My inquisitors would be male, but I have created a FemShep, and yes, I tried to make her as beautiful as possible. The ironic thing about it is that I find her face a little too distracting.

But, male or female, I always try to make my characters look good. I do have some characters based on myself, but they're idealized versions of me. It's like, why make bronze when you can create gold?

Why are attractive people less capable of fighting?

If you don't want an attractive character then don't make one.

I see a lot of discussion singling out female PCs.  Why is it men can be dashing and handsome and capable but women have to be just 'average' if they are going to be considered seriously capable?  I make what I want to look at, or what fits the roleplay for the personality I have in mind.  Even my most calculating characters are still (in my eyes) drop dead gorgeous.  I will opt for practicality over more conventional images of 'beauty'.  My warrior women have braided or short hair (like Cassandra, not GI Jane Buzzcut) to keep it out of their eyes.  And i certainly wouldn't put them in some of the stripper-wear armor I've seen made popular by characters like Red Sonja, however flimsy an excuse they had for the bikini chain mail.  Yes, I'm looking at you, Roy Thomas and Stan Lee  <_<

But if people want that in their games, why not?  It's their game, they paid for it, and it's entirely for their enjoyment what they do.

I'm a female and if I play a male I want someone who falls into the aesthetic of what I consider attractive in a male.  My male characters all end up looking a lot like this guy.

Because looking at that face for 60+ hours is such a pleasure I won't apologize for it.

Eh, I don't think my Wardens and my Shepard are that attactive, except for my canon Surana who I think is gorgeous.

Shepard:

Wardens:

And miss Idrilla Lavellan isn't too shabby either (although it's a i-am-thirsty-for-the-cc-so-i-am-playing-in-the-sims pic)

Spoiler

I do put some effort on making them at least pretty because I like pretty things and I like my escapism to have a flavor of feminist power fantasy. But why is it so bad? It's really difficult to make a supermodel character without heavy modding, anyway.

And can I just say how much I loathe the retoric that women put on makeup to be more desirable for dudes/because they care too much about looks/are shallow/have nothing else to offer besides looks? I'm plenty beautiful without makeup, and if I choose to wear a full face of makeup and bold lipstick it's because I like the painterly look, it has nothing to do with my attractiveness. /grumps

It's a pretty funky hairstyle, isn't it? I like it well enough, though the important thing was it seemed to balance "stylish" and "professional" pretty well (what's a spy without professionalism, eh?).

It's on my favorite IA too.  Captures multiple personality looks, stylish, classy (harkens back to a 'forties noir type 'do), practical--no hair in the eyes to spoil the rifle shot, or get in the way of lightsaber swinging, feminine and has a 'military' specs feel to it since it's off the collar and not a ponytail (matching RL USN hair requirements for women).  It's actually my favorite hairdo in ToR, my favorite Jedi Consular, smuggler, Sith Warrior and IA all wear it.  Except my IA is a Chiss  :D   I really really love the way they integrated the Chiss race for the IA storyline on Hoth.

There is a link to the tatts, but the ears...where did you get the ears?  (and hair if possible, though I have lots of nice default hair in TS3)

People can make their PCs as pretty or as ugly as they want. I'm just happy we seem to have enough options in the CC to make a wide array of characters and not be forced to have cookie cutter faces. I do wish female companions and NPCs would have as much variety as the male characters. Huge beefy strong women, short, fat women. old grizzled women (who don't look like 25 year olds with white hair like Leandra and Wynne), skinny weasely women, etc...

I can´t see where the Op is going with this.. I´ve created a few Female wardens and my inspirations are usually my wife and persons i´ve met on active duty.. I´ve met and worked with some really "bad-ass" soldiers who,lo and behold, were women and looked damn good.. my wife is a tall blond, extremely welltrained soldier to the bone and when we go out the goblins drool.. so who the *bleep* gave you the idea that stunning women can´t kick ass?.. in my experience they can and will... so all that "ooh, they are not "normal" women baloney is just that..baloney!!

Ears are a combination of cmar's custom ear sliders + the alien ears sliders from Seasons. Her hair is a retexture of Cazy's 124 hair (Northern Star) by beaverhausenx on tumblr. I think I used most sliders posted on modthesims and mysims3blog's sliders tag on her facesculpt as well, but I can share a defaulted version of her/list her cc, if you want to use as a base.

Thanks, found the ear sliders and will use those.  The old ones I used to use were a pair of 'ear- earrings' which was all I had.  This is MUCH better ;) .  One nice thing about the new video card i installed to play Inquisition is my TS3 runs well.  She also had a Nathaniel Howe (one of my favorites from DA) and I grabbed him too!  Thanks for pointing me to the new content!

1. Go and find a quote in which I said that women cannot look stunning and kick ass the same time. You cant cause I never did.

2. I am also Active Duty US Army stationed here at Ft. Bragg where there are many tough female paratroopers and many of them even without makeup and their hair pulled up can put many civilian women to shame. So I am not oblivious to the great looks of military women.

3. This thread is not about creating ugly women nor is it about "model" looking women not fitting the look for DA. This is a thread that simply ask if people will create female characters that look a bit more grounded. Still sexy and attractive, but with less makeup and more natural beauty. Similar to a thread I made a while ago asking if people will create characters that are transgender considering the options we have such as adding adams apple to females and makeup to males.

Point is, I believe people are making this thread mean whatever they want it to mean when simply I was trying to create conversation about an approach people take when making female characters.

Oh and BTW, that female elf in one of those cc videos that everyone says looks hideous, well I found her to be very attractive and sexy. I do not know where people get that she is ugly but oh well.

Well, if that's all you're asking, the answer is simple. Some will, some won't

Yeah. I just wanted to entice discussion about it like any other thread.

The question is kind of subjective. I have 4 long term protagonists. They are all attractive to me and I will try to create them in the CC as best I can as they get their playthroughs. My sorceress is probably the best looking of that lot, but she would be. Now if I can get her to also have a hags face as she is casting she would be complete.

It was not you i referred to in my posting, other than the where is this going? bit... it was the postings from various members about "normal" women and "showing how hard she is".. i objected against... maybe there was a bit pent-up anger from real-life..civ´s disrespecting my wife, you know the score.. "oooh,She can´t be a soldier and if ,then she´s a clerk" or other idiocy from people who don´t know which end of the rifle to keep away from your face.. so,sorry if i offended you,not intended,at all...

The female elf in the CC... You mean the redhead? I thought she looked adorable! I loved her myself.

Nothing wrong with creating beautiful people. Every now and then, I like to create the embodiment of beauty... the Natalie Portman of protagonists.

im a shallow arrogant b-i-tch, and i dont deny it. i dont feel good or bad about it. Where have i said people cant say decent things and mean them? when it comes to peoples judgement of others' looks i just find it to be bs  nine times out of ten, the guys that notice me irl dont do so because i have a "beautiful personality".

When you say that people say "phony ass progressive bs to make themselves sound all progressive and nice" and combine that in one paragraph with how "every single" dude you met was like that, and how everyone reveals themselves to be shallow, the overall implication is pretty clear. But hey, the number now dropped from "every single" to "nine out of ten" so yay, progress. Maybe we could take another step and admit that statistics was pulled from the same place you claim others pull their "progressive bs"..?

Also, please don't take this wrong way, but if you acknowledge yourself you're a "shallow arrogant ******" then maybe it's not too surprising it isn't the personality that'd make you noticed --in positive way, at least-- and so your personal experience may be somewhat skewed? I mean, leaving aside that first impressions are generally based on looks and not personality as the latter is pretty much unknown at that point, shallow and arrogant isn't exactly a 'beautiful personality' that'd make a positive impression. Which yes, would shift the weight of any attraction towards the looks.

They have done studies and there are documentaries that show we have subconscious biases toward people based on their looks, and everybody takes it into account even people who claim that they dont.

The biases absolutely do exist. With caveat they are neither universal worldwide (a number of these studies show there can be noticeable differences) and they merely affect human behaviour, not govern it with iron fist.
