It's weird, everytime I make female characters (I'm a girl) I usually found them really beautiful. It's a kind of my idea of beauty. But everytime my boyfriend or room mate looks at my character they'll comment on how this or that can still be improved to makes it looks prettier since they find my characters are quite on the ugly side. Well, guess that being beautiful/pretty is very subjective.
Any NON-Super model looking femquisitors?

Well, while I will go for attractive (yes: hell, she could be on a magazine cover like attractive - without being artificial), I will not give her a "she is wearing make-up" appearance if possible (I hate the stuff and good looking women should throw it away and not use it IMHO...if you have everything going for you already you don't need it!), neither will she look like a spoiled princes (more of a wow, a diamond in the rough windswept kind of beauty that does not look artificial like a hollywood-star with too many plastic surgeries)...more or less a more beautiful version of Cassy
(like Cassy from DA2 - beautiful but also no-nonsense and down to business like)
greetings LAX
ps: Why would anyone make a character they wouldn't look twice at? (or worse: An ugly character? - What's the appeal?...Heroes should look special IMHO (yes, blame the media for that one - you are probably right, too as movies, tv-shows etc. show us almost only good looking people being heroes)...More so, it's proven that attractive people are more successful in life and can convince others of their ideas easier (as I tend to play silver-tongued heroes - I'd rather talk than fight - it's clear why I go for good looks...other then wanting to play a character I find pleasing - I wouldn't play a character I didn't like looks wise...at least if they wear as ugly as the night is dark...plain and unremarkable is ok, but hideous is not!)

Ironically, I play mostly "beautified" male characters in Bioware games and this is probably going to continue in DA:I, but for the one or two times I make a female character...
They're going to look average, if not "unique," because I have a slightly bitter soul and don't want them to look prettier than me. ![]()

Getting the cheekbones right is always the biggest problem.
I think I had to go through 30 Shephards in ME1 before I figured out how to make a character with natural looking cheekbones.
The cheekbones though... Everything else would be exactly how I wanted it, and the cheekbones....

Cheekbones are the bane of my existence. Especially not getting them to look too sharp on certain angles. I created one Shepard who looked awesome from every angle except one, where it looked like Shep decided to affix some knives to the ol' face for... reasons?

When you say that people say "phony ass progressive bs to make themselves sound all progressive and nice" and combine that in one paragraph with how "every single" dude you met was like that, and how everyone reveals themselves to be shallow, the overall implication is pretty clear. But hey, the number now dropped from "every single" to "nine out of ten" so yay, progress. Maybe we could take another step and admit that statistics was pulled from the same place you claim others pull their "progressive bs"..?
Also, please don't take this wrong way, but if you acknowledge yourself you're a "shallow arrogant ******" then maybe it's not too surprising it isn't the personality that'd make you noticed --in positive way, at least-- and so your personal experience may be somewhat skewed? I mean, leaving aside that first impressions are generally based on looks and not personality as the latter is pretty much unknown at that point, shallow and arrogant isn't exactly a 'beautiful personality' that'd make a positive impression. Which yes, would shift the weight of any attraction towards the looks.
The biases absolutely do exist. With caveat they are neither universal worldwide (a number of these studies show there can be noticeable differences) and they merely affect human behaviour, not govern it with iron fist.
except that im pretty good at keeping a poker face, i look and behave very sweet and innocent in real life, until im given a reason not to. ive no problems keeping people bamboozled, and get my fair share of attention from both sexes, for my looks and my phony "warm" personality. The guys i used to choose in the past were dorky geeks who play video games, and expressed all sorts of progressive and nicey nicey beliefs, until i realized that they were no different and neither was anyone else. People are all full bs to one degree or another, myself included. Im not an idealistic and stupid little girl anymore. Why are you so keen on proving me wrong anyway? What difference does it make what i think?

If you feel the need to say you're not 'a stupid little girl anymore', your chances of being taken seriously on that front plummet dramatically. Kind of reminds me of Mission from Kotor. "I ain't no kid!" Just a piece of advice from a person who has made a similar mistake in the past.

Op, since all this only takes place in your living room, I think the better question is, why DON'T you want your characters to be attractive? Just so you can feel different and less shallow?
Sometimes people make characters that are conventionally not so pretty. They have their reasons, whether it's: practicality (boyish hair etc.), to look battlehardened (scars etc.) or based on themselves (ooooh sick burn). Or doll's reason. Your only reason seems to be so you can tell them forum how special you are.
All the shepards look the same (and unlike any supermodel I must say) because the cc is extremely limited.
They're going to look average, if not "unique," because I have a slightly bitter soul and don't want them to look prettier than me.
But.. but, you're going to BE them.

tmp seems to want me to elaborate my position, so im responding. OOOhh your opinion of my intellect and worldliness pains me so! You sound like one of those nerds i used to date, as does tmp. My point was i dont cling to any more illusions, about myself or anyone else, nothing more, nothing less.
Most people dont really know themselves very well, i get the feeling that includes both you and tmp. Im not deluded about my "goodness", are you of yours? i also like it how you assume you are more experienced than i am and somehow magically know what my life has been like and "grace" me with your "sagely" and "elderly cowboy" type advice. OH what ever would i do, had CastonFolarus not guided me to the light!!

It's so funny to read all these comments asking for more average looking FemInq when you'll get to play probably the most not-average toon in this whole universe. I mean c'mon, if you're going to be the head of inquisition, survive disaster that killed everyone including some powerful mages, poses some nasty powers along the way, you may as well be looking like Margot Robbie from The Wolf of Wall Street and this will still look completely legit ![]()
Cheers.
