Stubble is not the same thing as a beard as anyone with a beard can tell you. I like that you can give Female Dwarves facial hair stubble but that is it.

You dont say? But I guess you ignored what i said in the brackets, maybe bioware will give dwarf females more beard option in a hair dlc if they feel like it.

Look at that ghastly elf chick in the PC stream and your fears will be assuaged. Personally, I only make hot protagonists because I have no soul.

One thing that I have noticed with many custom female Commander Shepards is that they generally are overly beautified if that makes any sense. Rarely have I seen any female Shepards (including many female Hawkes and Wardens) that looked like average women. Attractive, but not like Maxim cover attractive or anything to that nature. It seems like when you allow people to create their female characters, men normally create someone who is overly sexualized while women while a bit tame, still go for extravagance in a way. You rarely see female Shepards/Hawkes/Wardens that are more on the Cassandra scale of things; attractive, yet not the typical "Hollywood", mainstream, or western ideals of what female beauty is. I am saying that most Shepards/Hawkes/Wardens I see (female) typically all have long hair, thick makup, straight and angular features etc...again, not like a Cassandra who has angular features, but is also....."normal" looking, Scout Harding as well.

For my female Elf and Qunari Inquisitors, I want to break the mold a bit. I want them to be attractive but not like OMGZ attractive. The type of female whom you may not break your neck to stare at because she is JUST SO attractive, but the type of female who you hang around with after a while and begin to find beauty in her, with the personality having a lot to play in that, not superficial features.

Again, I get the whole idea that if you are going to be playing a 100+ hour game, you would want to create someone that looks good, but still, I want to try to be less mainstream and more unique.

Aren't you the same person who very recently made a thread that not only criticized Iron Bull for having a small head, but said that you'd attempt to kill him because of it?  I don't think you have any right to call people superficial.

Why play someone who is "average" in a video game when I can play as a sexy warrior/mage/rogue goddess? :P  ;)

I am average in real life why would I be average in my Fantasy Life.....

Besides immersion, ''flawless'' is extremely boring. Do you remember those countless faces of super models you've seen in beauty magazines, with those statistically perfect angles, perfect eye widths and perfect noses? I don't even remember one.

Why is that? Little flaws, disproportion in features and quirks add character, makes you more interesting and makes your face more memorable which ultimately increases beauty.

For example, Cassandra with the scar and her angular jaw is more beautiful than with perfect smooth skin and a facial bone structure that is more in line with the general beauty standards. Those features add character and make her instantly more interesting and beautiful.

Well I usually try to make it so that I'm not appalled by my character during cut scenes and dialogue. Therefore, for my female characters I try to make them attractive... at least attractive to me. I don't go as far as to make them as hot and "perfect" as possible because then they seem out of place. I prefer a blend of realism and subtle attractiveness.

Um...when has this EVER been an issue in a BW game?

I have more issue making them super model looking than non super model -_-

My MO, in bioware games as well as Skyrim (never got past character creator in Oblivion, as it seemed impossible to create anything but ghastly abominations), is generally to craft the most attractive face possible (by my standards), then accent it with scars/tats.  Makeup (not warpaint) I generally ignore, as I have no idea what I'm doing in that department.

I am going to be looking at that face a lot when playing the game. Hence I see nothing out of the ordinary in sculpting said face to my personal preferences when it comes to outward appearance standards.

However, if anyone wants to do it differently, isn't that the (pun incoming) beauty of the custom character creator? You can go knock yourself out with any number of facial appearances, going from super model, non-super model, self-insert, randomized patterns or all the "ugly" you can imagine. Though I suppose we won't have much options in the body type.

If you don't want an Inquisitor who you find attractive, make an Inquisitor who you don't find attractive. The character creation suite available is a powerful tool, so you can make the protagonist as attractive or unattractive as you wish.

First off, I think a majority of players playing as their own sex want their character to be good-looking.  Occasionally they'll go for "degrading" features just to spice it up.  Secondly, I also think the majority of gamers playing as the opposite sex want their character to look like what appeals to them.  Both these cases apply to male and female gamers.  I don't think there's much of a difference at all.

By all means, make your inquisitor however you like.

i don't remember most "super models" because for the most part they are twigs with intense faces.

never understood the attraction to half the girls in those runway shows.

I prefer girls with more soft features.

The trend in BW games is that it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay easier to make an unattractive character than one who is "supermodel" hot.  That takes so much effort.  I even gave up in DA2 and went for the default because that CC was so bad.

I tend to make conventionally attractive characters myself, but I don't aim for perfection.

Actually, after ME's and DAO's creepily uncanny CCs and DA2's pudding face Hawkes I am delighted to finally be able to play an attractive woman or man beyond the defaults.

I can't make a protagonist who makes you want to gouge out your eyes with a spork after looking at them for 60+ hours.  If they aren't just so I can't even make it past the prologue with them.  I see no reason to play a character who isn't as beautiful as I can make her (or him).  I usually have some image in mind for my ladies that adds to the RP.  I had LadyHawkes who looked like Emma Frost, Jean Grey and Lucy Lawless.  My male protagonists usually resemble Tyrone Power.

I'm not entirely sure what OP is talking about.

All female presets other than the default femHawke (who was indeed very attractive) were pretty damn ugly. Making them non-ugly took a ton of work. Also, have you ever seen the male Hawke without his beard? Ghastly.

What you find attractive is subjective. As a male, what attracts me to a woman is their personality. If that's missing, then I've no interest regardless how "beautified" they look. Within CC it's possible to create a character that looks unique to suit your personal taste without going overboard.
