The tools are clearly there to make your own character as pretty/average/ugly as you want, so I doubt there will be any issues in achieving a completely average appearance for your character. As for myself, if I want to stare at an average-looking female all day, all I have to do is to look in the nearest mirror - which is exactly why I prefer that my female characters be reasonably attractive/pretty (without going totally overboard most of the time).
Any NON-Super model looking femquisitors?

So the OPer is complaining that not enough people want to play as an ugly character in a power fantasy game?
I mean isn't playing a character that is as attractive as possible part and parcel of the whole power fantasy game?
I don't know if it's entirely fair to call Inquisition or any of the Dragon Age games strictly "power fantasy" games. There's an element, certainly: you're saving the world, the one person who can, and in combat you're a god among people and dialogue tends to assume that also. Even Hawke was renowned and generally assumed to be one of the few people who ever actually did anything.
But a lot of the games are forcing you into tough choices/situations, and yes there's a thrill to being the one who makes the tough call and overcomes situation X, but it's not all ego-stroking. You've got people like Carver (my favoured sibling, for what it's worth), the story of Leandra and her "admirer"... Plus, everyone else is written to be relatively normal and down-to-earth, warts and all psychologically at least*, so no reason for the Inquisitor to be any different, right?
*They're not always successfully written, but I think it's fairly clear the intent is for them to be deep and flawed, at least a bit.

Having read the OP it's safe to say that attraction is wildly mixed from individual to individual -- Looking at Cassandra's design I'd say she has an incredibly attractive face and physigue. It actually reminds me of an old documented report by Naughty Dog, when they talked about making the character of Nathan Drake -- Their idea was to make him look like your average Joe, a normal guy, but it's quite clear that he's seemingly genericly handsome beneath all the strategically placed grime and green stubble. I suppose the OP's idea of "beautiful" characters are associated with something else? Perhaps it's long hair and pouty lips maybe?
I know that in games where I have more tools to work with I've generally found myself giving my female characters tats, piercings and very unlady-like hairdos like in New Vegas, think it's basically a short "skrillex" or something? Don't know what you'd call it. Lisbeth Salander cut I suppose. Usually the facial features would be well-placed and sharp looking to balance things out, which there isn't anything wrong with.
Female characters don't need to be deliberately average looking in order to be taken seriously after all -- The idea is to make them relatable which can go both ways, right?

Hell, no matter the gender, I'm probably going to make my pcs look beautiful to me. If you want to make a more "average" looking person, that's fine. Everyone else has their own desires and such!

So an average looking woman such as yourself isnt reasonably attractive? A reasonably attractive woman isnt normal looking?

Yes. I want to Kill Iron Bull cause he looks silly with his small head on a huge body. But his actual facial features are ok. I just want to know where people stand in regards to how they approach the beauty of their created characters.
And now I'm not interested in hearing your opinion about other people's judgments on character appearance.

I'm average looking in real life, why would I want to look average in a video game too?

One thing that I have noticed with many custom female Commander Shepards is that they generally are overly beautified if that makes any sense. Rarely have I seen any female Shepards (including many female Hawkes and Wardens) that looked like average women.
I dunno'... I thought my Shepard was very much a real woman, not a supermodel:
ME1: (My very first Shepard. Waaaaay too much eyeshadow, I know. But I was just getting used to the CC and the lighting was atrocious!)

ME3: (My very last Shepard, in her very own apartment. Thx, Adm. Anderson!)

I started off with much more obvious scars in ME3, but my inability to make the Renegade choices kept healing them! ![]()

I remember last time I played awakening I accidentally made an elf woman with rather boyish features. Not masculine, or androgynous, but boyish. This combined with a modded in shaved sides gave her a new DMC Dante look. A few moments later I concluded that she looked awesome.
But I will totally aim for beauty. This Inquisition requires a minimum seven on the pretty scale and a nine on the owning it scale otherwise you can join some other group, maybe a helmet wearing one. At this point my views on appearance are so skewed I don't even think I could make an ugly character without them having impossible features on the edge of the sliders.

And of course there's the all-time winner of the "Ugl... errr... "Unique Character Contest" to prove that with a BioWare CC, anything's possible!

So 2 months ago the question was "will there be any good looking inquisitor?" and now it's "will there be any non good looking inquisitor?".
If I didn't know any better I'd think that someone is conducting a social experiment.

It seems like the DA:I CC will be versatile enough for us to make a wide range of characters and not just an army of cloned doll faces like DA2 ![]()

My elven Inquisitor will look like a severe mega-bit@$ and my Qunari will be covered in scars and look fierce warrior and crusher of skulls.
Nothing overly sexualised or extravagance here

Isn't that kinda erm... an overreaction? You can always just not recruit him.
I've always considered the characters I make to be pretty normal looking, as far as comparing them to the other characters in-game. The CC doesn't give many options to look like a supermodel mary-sue or anything (at least before mods), but by default I'd say most of my characters are at least somewhat attractive. I like scars and the broken nose option this time around excites me though, so I may end up with some pretty rough Inquisitors.
They'll still be gorgeous in my heart.
"BSN" and "overreaction" tend to be synonymous ![]()

So, a lot of folks are saying how "fugly" the fem elf inquisitor was. After re-watching the video, I take it back when I said that I thought she looked normal.
I actually think she's beautiful.
edit: And I absolutely love her bronze skin tone.

I just don't see what's so inherently wrong with her. I can understand people saying, "OH not my thing..." but it felt like too many were overreacting - like she was Quasimodo or something.

To me, the thing that really made her look strange was how puffy her cheeks were. From a straight on perspective, she looked like her face had a nice cheekbone line, however you lost that when she turned her head and it was just shapeless and poofy. Also she would have looked nicer with either a smaller forehead, or bolder eyebrows to offset it.
But then again, these are personal opinions.
Yeah I remember the shape of the face when her head was turned. It was more "moon faced" - but I dunno. I kind of liked it. I can't explain why. It gave her some character. She's clearly gorgeous, but the fact that she has bad angles (like most of us) made her seem...real.

Maybe because people have different tastes? I didn't find her appealing at all. If someone thinks she is ugly, it isn't going to change the opinions of those who don't.
I haven't seen anyone say anything terrible-- maybe I have missed it, but saying she isn't attractive is just an opinion.
