You know, all those normal people that vastly outnumber them and will likely stone mage children at the first sign of magic now that you've "shown them terror".

Annihilate the town that does that. Or make them all tranquil.

Can't do that when they've all been killed. Killing a Mage is hardly impossible for a skilled warrior and new Templars can always be made.

Well, I don't get the impression Viviene would call it immoral either, just thick headed. Perhaps she still seeks to help them, indirectly. The Mages will need help in the fallout of this ill advised rebellion, the help a mage well positioned in the Orlesian court (Or the Inquisition) might be able to provide.

She may also feel that the best way to help the Mages is to get them back in some sort of Circle system.

I'm willing to entertain this, provided it has no links to the Chantry, or if the Chantry will agree to all my required reforms (which include appointing mages to positions within the Chantry itself).

so why not join the tevinter armies and help it conquer the rest of thedas? they allow magi in their chantry, mainly because they believe that magic users get to rule man not serve him. also you get slaves.

You could make it continent scarringly brutal however.

Because I don't like slavery any more than I do the Circle system.

@Hemidall; No, that was one mage and he could very well be dead. If non-mages truly believe that all must pay for the actions of one man, I see no reason not to take the same attitude as a mage regarding say, Meredith, Lambert - the rest of the order and their supporters. I see no reason to hold allegiance to non-mages when they hold none to mages.

The vast majority of Andrastians believe that everyone in Thedas is currently paying for the actions of a few mages a thousand years ago...  Why shouldn't they condemn the mages and demand they pay for the actions of Anders?  Especially since it's evident that the mages haven't paid enough for the actions of those mages of a thousand years prior.  If they had, they'd be condemning of Anders and his ilk, and proclaiming that they are not like the Magisters of old...

The view that the mages of today should have to pay for the actions of ancient magisters, or even Anders, is rather toxic, sickening, and morally repulsive in my opinion. Ask yourself: did the werewolves in the Brecilian Forest deserve to suffer or die because their ancestors committed atrocities against Zathrians' family?

I find little substance in the theory that magisters began the First Blight. Who truly knows what happened? And even if they did, so what?

Templars have oppressed, raped, abused, and murdered innocents ever since they've taken the reigns of power. Does that justify their entire destruction? Of course not. There are good Templars who actually care about their charges as much as there are scum like Alrik.

What this world needs is less fanaticism and more moderation. Let cooler minds take the reigns, and don't allow bloodlust to cloud your judgements.

And here is where I agree with you, there is a reason after all I am a Hellenic Polytheist IRL.That said, this is the view of the majority of Thedas, Tevinter excluded. It is even the view of my human noble, and she is pro-circle and sees that mages can be good people. The fact though the majority of people of Thedas believe that this is true.

The majority of nations are followers of the Chantry, and the chantry believes magic is corrupting and that it caused the first blight. It would take a movement to try and convince the people that is wrong. The problem also is that convincing that this is wrong makes a good number fear that you want to create another Tevinter, which a lot of people do not want.

That said, change might be coming with Divine Justinia the Fifth.

Templars have oppressed, raped, abused, and murdered innocents ever since they've taken the reigns of power. Does that justify their entire destruction? Of course not. There are good Templars who actually care about their charges as much as there are scum like Alrik.

This I disagreed with. The templar order was created as a guardian to protect and guard mages, much from themselves as they were to protect them from the outside world. Now have things changed, perhaps. But as you said templars are people and people can be good people or they can be scum. But defeintly not at the begining, by now is their corruption, yes. but not at the start.

oh that I agree.- and thankfully the current divine(or as I like to say pope-lady) is not a fanatic. Divine Justinia V is definatly a moderate.

As scene by the forums here alone, there are zealots on both sides. So here is hoping that Divine Justina the Fifth and her allies can help out here.

No, the blast that happens at the conference.  The one that the Inquisitor was attending.

I wonder this as well. I honestly don't know. It could go either way. The death of the Divine would serve the exacerbate the situation even more. Even if she were alive, however, the Seekers and Templars have split from the Chantry. She doesn't hold as much power as she used to.

Unknown until the game releases.  It's assumed she's dead for two reasons.  1) because she is supposed to be leading the conference, it wouldn't make sense if leaders of both parties died, but not her(because why would they show up if she isn't there?).  And 2) because it's said the Chantry has declared the Inquisition heretical.  Which would make little sense if her two hands were integral parts of it.

Yea, I kinda thought so, and was hoping it wasn't true.

Damn, moderation just got tossed out the window.  Fanatical heads will hold sway.  I hope my Inquisitor can do something to help.

we might be able to help elect a more moderate Divine though if she is dead. Or I so hope that is the case.

It's unfortunate if she's dead. Nevertheless, it won't stop me. I won't let foolish politics get in the way of destroying demons and safeguarding the innocent. The rifts will be closed, the demons banished. If Templars and the Chantry wish to add themselves to the pile of corpses behind me, so be it.

apparently we do get to help either the templars or the mages from the begining of the game.

Justinia wasn't much help. Maybe without the templars, things could have been settled more amicably, but as it is...

I would think finding a cure to tranquility would be a good thing? Well you are a good example of one of the zealots that makes moderation hard.

Only if you think turning mages tranquil is a bad thing.  Sure, it might be better to give the mages a choice:  Tranquility or Death.  But there is little reason to ever revert tranquility.  Unless one is planning to kill them afterward(because, you know, they were made Tranquil for a reason).  And if so, why bother?

what about as a cure for being made wrongfully tranquil? Thats a pretty damn good reason. Also lol at xil and her underdogs :) makes the forums feel like home.
