 It always looks red in game to me.  I'll take screenshots next time I fire it up.

Dragonscale and dragonbone look red to me.  Evon the Great's armor certainly isn't blue. (these wiki photos have some weird lighting... that's not what this stuff looks like when I'm walking around Denerim)

That's really not necessary.

I kinda wish we had the option to wear something like this.

the-tudors-season-3-promo-the-tudors-317

Would totally wear that.  Oh, and my Inquisitor can borrow it too.

As far as crafting and the color of the armor goes, there is no dye system but they have said you can keep the color of armor reguardless of the material being used, so if you have a black colored armor and want to upgrade it to dragon bone you can keep the black or change it to be the color of dragon bone.

We're hoping we can do something just like that for clothes though.

I don't even know what that's supposed to mean. Something that doesn't concern people as much as you isn't "beyond them."

If you think the people who have responded here represent as much as 25% of BioWare's customers, you probably don't have a solid concept of how large BioWare's audience is, or where they spend their time on the internet.

So you would remove entire features of the game (including one that is expected to generate direct cash flow) that took years to develop at great cost for the sake of a few costumes that you'll only be wearing for a small portion of the game?

Holy Jezebel.  Serves me right for writing something terse around here.  Crucified in a blink.

(1) How can you say you don't know what something means, and then, in the next breath offer a harsh judgement of it?

A "target audience" is a common marketing concept.  A target audience is made up of people with similar interests for a particular "activity".

This is often weighed against creative vision to various degrees.

At some point, decisions have to made where best bang for buck comes in, and what features will offer good return.

So without spelling it all out in detail, "beyond target audience" is a another marketing phrase that could be used IMO.

It isn't intended as you interpret "beyond them".  It's beyond their "target audience".  Day and night difference.

(2) The people who have responded here are passionate.  Me too, though I'm far from a regular poster.

But do the posters here represent the 100% of the bioware player spectrum?

If so, do all player types post in here or even bother reading this thread or for that matter even visit BSN?

Are all the various player types proportionally EVEN represented here at BSN?

How many of the past bioware game buyers/players would REALLY want to endure a little armour/weapon/multiplayer and in exchange get a few more casual outfits.

My guesstimate of 25% is for people who like a "higher degree" of variety/customization across all areas -- including casual outfits.

That guesstimate could be wrong.  It is why i used the word guesstimate.

I'd love to be wrong and find out it's actually much higher.

(3) Lastly, where did i say I would remove these features?

I said "trade".  As in I don't value it highly.  But I recognize others do and these features help pay for the overall game by attracting more player types.  I was just underlining how i personally would choose casual clothes over those 3 specific items, but that i would "trade" them.

As for "small portion" of time?  Ummm, i get the impression some memorable character interactions will happen in skyhold.

When I hit Fraps/print screen to capture and comemorate those, how do you think I'll feel wearing that one causal outfit if I like appearance customization?

It ain't a "small issue."  :(

So am i still on your cruxfiction cross? :P

I'm very disappointed with ball outfit. They could desing something nice. It doesn't have to be a wide long dress but with a bit good will I'm sure they would come up with something pretty.

What does that have to do with casual wear?   Skyhold isn't a nudist colony.

Ugh I hate casual wear like this... There were like 2 okay ones in ME, Hawke's was hideous, and now this...

I hope they'll either add more options in a patch or dlc or make us able to wear armor in the keep. (I'm assuming that we can't choose to wear armor in the keep, I don't think anyone's said we can...)

We need to keep this topic alive!

With the complaining done with, we should offer bioware a few suggestions on how they could handle it.

I know time and money are not on our side. The devs have been working very hard on this game, and I am very grateful for it.

The best course of action is to enable the option to wear pc armor in Skyhold. All the armor is completed, animated, and optimized. So literally no work at all. This should fix the problem in the short term .

I find this whole concept of a forced casual outfit rather baffling.

On the Normandy it made sense as you were in a climate-controlled environment, and on a military ship where presumably going about armed and armoured would be frowned upon.

It made less sense at the Hawke Estate, as Hawke already wore his normal garb in Gamlen's House. There was even an item you could loot at the Hawke Estate called Finery, which was a statless chestpiece with the exact same model as the forced casual outfit. As this chestpiece overrode the appearance of all other items(with the exception of the helmet), they could have just presented it as an roleplaying option to wear at home if you so wished and called it a day.  (Of course what presents a bit of a problem in DA2 is the fact that you can't entirely unequip your weapons at any time, if you do you will be equipped with a extremely low quality default weapon of the same type.)

But at least Hawke's Forced Finery was limited to the cozy indoor milieu of the Estate, whereas the Skyhold is largely open air and located in the Frostback Mountains, complete with glacial waterfalls. From the looks of things it also seems we will be spending quite a bit of time in the Skyhold, it being the hub for the Inquisition and presumably the location for the majority of companion interaction among other things.

I dearly wish they would simply allow us to wear our normal armor at the Skyhold.

The more I think about this the more annoyed I get. I should stop.

This would be by far the best and the most realistic solution. What we've already seen, there are all sorts of wonderful trenchcoats, tunics and other non-armour gear available to us in the field. Those sort of outfits are actually better suited for Skyhold wear than the current mandatory casual outfit. Besides, there's nothing wrong with wearing an armour inside a fortress. All my soldiers get to do that, why not me?

Bioware can give us that skin-tight cream-coloured suit too, so those that like it can it wear it. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that the reason behind using that casual outfit is to animate complex scenes (such as romantic ones, which may involve removal of clothing) with one standard outfit. In that case, I wish they'd at the very least give us a possibility to dye the casual outfit. A simple recolouring should not cause any clipping issues.

So here is a fun idea, if you could have any outfit as casual outfit/ballroom dress, what would you use.

Full plate armor, especially in Orlais, those cowardly assassins are everywhere. I might not be the most elegent guest on the dance floor but I'll be able to block a blade and punch someone in the face with a steel cased fist.... You don't get to be the inquisitor without making a few enemies down the road.

I still think that just letting us recolor the causal attire would make it look much better so long as we can make the pants and shirts different colors if we wanted too, it might not work if the whole thing got changed to a color you pick maybe a slider or dyes or whatever for the top half and the same for the bottom half?

If I could, some nice customized armor with the colors I choose.  My rogue is also going to be the very paranoid type, so her walking around everywhere armed and armored makes sense.

I think that just enabling pc armor will solve the problem of the whole causal outfit complaint. Easiest way for devs to solve it without breaking a sweat.

Well, Cass doesn't seem to wear her full armor in Skyhold either. It makes sense, since it's a fortress, a safe place where you don't have to worry about being attacked every moment (and if you do get attacked there are plenty of walls and guards to hold off the enemy until you've gotten a chance to change into your armor).

Still, some of the stuff you can craft seems to look plenty casual. Maybe we can compose a separate outfit, from limited pieces, for use inside the keep?

I like the idea of a DLC that adds more choices of outfits. The game is about customizations adding more outfit choices would allow more option to those of us who don't want to wear armor but something more elegant (such as dresses or another form of noble wear). I also like the idea of a color wheel or even a casual apparel crafting option both would be a ton of fun. Also in my opinion worth waiting for. Here's to hoping something like that gets added.
