I have to say, I am quite happy with the armor we have seen so far. The mage armor that has been shown off in the streams is very pretty! It has delicate designs on it, as well as some lace or at least embroidery, I cant quite tell.

So despite the awful ball and casual one, at least we have that to be thankful for! :)

Here is the one I'm thinking of btw,

I hope we have feminine armor as well, though like casual attire it seems the focus was on male armor.

It is so very odd that the times when you would think the female Inquisitor should look and dress "feminine" would be at time like this- the ballroom and chillin' in her crib- yet she doesn't. I guess she tries to make up for it by strutting around the battlefield, which is the odd part.

While I agree that the option should be there (to dress "feminine"), I'd want the option not to (note: I don't want to be forced to wear the same outfit my male inquisitor wears, but I don't want to have my female characters forced into wearing a dress or a skirt either (don't like those things - period - and they don't fit my tomboyish characters either...it's like putting Cassy in a dress (don't think she would like it! - she's more likely to set it in fire than wear it, I think!)).

As for the shown outfit - it's a little plain (yes, it's an off-duty, casual outfit, but even my casual outfits look better (don't like the colour for example...it's too dull - I'd rather have either something black or a vibrant colour (red, green, blue - just not orange or something)...It does not (and should not) be fancy...at least not the attire you wear at the Skyhold - the one for the ball should be more elaborate (like say hunting leathers or a dress armor - and a real dress, or several, for those who like them) and the choice wether to wear a mask or not should be offered IMHO (after all, Orlesians wear them as a symbol of status...still, some character might find them riddiculous and might not want to wear them (after all, aren't we outside the game, like the chantry (should be), the grey wardens, the circle of magi (when it still existed) etc.?)...while others might (nobles would probably appreciate the gesture...maybe you could even show support by say wearing a mask with either Gaspards' or Celens' symbol?))

greetings LAX

See, something like that would be awesome.  It doesn't have to be this big foofy dress, just something simple would have been nice.  They say animations might be hard, but I'm sure I buy into it, we've had robes and other similar thing in the past, surely some altered version of that would have been fine?

*shrug*  Oh well.

Being a fan of A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of thrones, naturally many of the designs I would have would borrow from there. So here are a few outfits that I would love to have similar designs to wear, not copies but similar enough. Besides, a song of ice and fire IIRC is one of the influences of dragon age so there. :)

As a casual outfit this works, awesome. It is rather simple yet is a hybrid between dress and suit. While rather simple, it also is a rather cool outfit that adds to the feeling of power IMO.

Spoiler

For the ball though, there are a number of dresses that could work, I am rather a fan of Margery Tyrell's dresses and most of them could easily work here IMO.

Here's a couple outfits which could work for Skyhold and the ball. They are feminine and yet not too girly for those who don't want that.

Didn't have a lot of luck looking for something I'd like for casual wear but I did find something I liked for ball wear.

Minus the sleeves (since I'm sure they would be a clipping nightmare)

you know that outfit is rather close in style to what we have now baring the shawl. But the difference in color makes it all the better.

So seeing as npc's like morrigan can wear ball gowns I am assuming the problem with animating it was to do with running around and possibly having to fight in it. I don't see why they couldn't have just used something like Vivienne's armour for this though. Something that has more length at the back than it does at the front.

They could have just slightly altered some mage armour mesh that they already had.

Like this sort of thing.

Spoiler

But I am not that bothered about it tbh.  As for the casual outfit, I just don't know why they chose that colour. Pretty much any other colour would have been better.

+1 to this whole thread.

Amusingly the thing about the outfit that annoys me the most is the fact that its collared all the way up.I have never liked it

I'm still incredibly excited for DA:I, and I don't think that will change. But seeing the Orlesian suit for the ball on a female character (at least part of it, I'll reserve full judgement until I see it fully on a female--although I did like the vine clip with the male Inquisitor in it), and then the Skyhold outfit in general...

I just have to say it. I love character housing. A lot. My Skyrim homes are very decorated. But my character comes first. I'd much rather see a few options to choose from in what my character wears, than draperies in a castle. If we can't have an actual ballgown, surely we could have something like Vivienne's attire? Maybe it does drape down better. Maybe it looks better in full view. Again, I'll wait until I see a full image, but I'm getting a little nervous.

And that casual Skyhold outfit is just very plain. Not hideous, but... Not stunning either.

I will note, this is, of course, all my personal opinion. I'm glad for everyone that enjoys both! I just would love a few options. I collected every outfit in DA:O and routinely switched them out (particularly when in cities), and my Shepards enjoyed some clothes changes as well throughout the games.

Sorry for the double post again lol. But I agree with Mikeymoonshines concept if they have us something long in the back but short in the front it would be a fantastic option for the ball and casual wear. Option being the key word so that the people who enjoy the current set can still use it aswell.

To be honest, the mage and rogue armors seem truly interesting and awesome. At least what I've seen so far. Which makes it all the more baffling that the Skyhold outfit is so...meh.

I actually like the ball one a lot, if some people get to have that awful hips walk for the FemInq, other people that dislike flashy things should have other benefits on the game too.

Unless of course they give the option to all gender to choose a more flashy dress or more military and practical outfit.

Maybe mods could fix that too? I mean I know it is sad that we have so little options when it comes to formal or casual attire. Personally I would prefer at least two options or three. One more practical military, one funny and casual and other more flashy with glamour.

Yeah, it's a much prettier color scheme.

That and the slight differences like the lack of so many buttons, the color being slightly open, or removing the sleeves for the arm-long gloves makes it similar, as in fitting with both the setting and the role of a regal commander like our current outfits are designed to, and yet unique.
