Looks great to me - plenty of detail. So what's the problem?
The color. I like the outfit, it is cool. My issue is that stupid ass color.

So if we have ability to customize Skyhold to fit the way we wanted it to look why we can't have choice in how our character will look in it.
I guess I just had to high expectations.
But in this pic it looks so much better. It's not so much bland.
It would be great to have a little neckline though...
I would've preferred that outfit as well
Though I don't have a problem with the current one either, the color could be better but I'm ok with it
For the people requesting this as part of a patch instead of DLC- Why should Bioware go to all the effort to add something optional into the game for free? Personally I think they could bundle this with some of the other cosmetic change requests- like hair, and changing your appearance mid-game -in a DLC.
Yes, the color is the worst thing about it. I wouldn't mind it so much if it was black or grey. But those damn coins attached to the whole outfit are just awful in my opinion. And those boots.

I would be happy for a DLC like the black emporium DLC for more customization options.

True, it seems to do that in a few places during that stream. But it's not the same in all the places, and I still think it will stand out better when playing. Who knows, they might slip in a slight tone shift before they're done and darken it a little, or something.

Not all DLC must be paid for. Even the proposed appearance changer or hair style additions needn't cost anything. Although that might be hoping for a bit much...

I am in no way intending to sound rude, but have you read anything in this thread? At all?
The color is a bland dried-mud brown, and unchangeable. The style (though nice in parts) is particularly uptight and uncomfortable looking for something your character is meant to be wearing only whilst in their home, during relaxation - outside of combat - and it is again unchangeable. It's the utter lack of customization - in a game where you can change the drapes in your castle, the armors you and your companions can wear...the size of your own adams-apple. Every single person, every single inquisitor will wear that outfit no matter their personality or style, and we have no choice (in a game FULL of choices), available to us to change it to anything else.
That is the problem.
The quality of the outfit has not been under criticism. If you like it, I'm thrilled for you. Doesn't mean anyone else has to like it.

yup this sums it up IMO

As I understood from his post, he was responding to a comment about low-res textures, and most of what you said has little to no bearing on his comment.
Unless you were trying to suggest that people who aren't upset about the outfit don't have a right to share their opinion?
Could be different iterations of the game in which the design of the outfit has changed from one to the other.
Maybe so, but they seem to have settled on the most bland option possible for some reason... :/ Knowing that other, more vibrant versions previously existed makes it even worse that this is the one that made it into the game.

Their initial comment was most certainly about the low res image they initially quoted, then several other screenshots were shown in higher quality to confirm that the low-res stream was not causing the complaints about the outfit. Since that assumption was corrected, they asked what the actual problem was - which to me indicates a lack of awareness on the subject of this thread - because the low-resolution screenshots were never an issue... anywhere, nor was the quality of the outfit.
I apologize if I misread what they were asking, but it seems I was not the only one to take that interpretation away with them and respond as I did regarding the outfit's issues.
And I am in no way attempting to suggest that their opinion is invalid, just that it does not invalidate those who do not agree with them. They don't see a problem. That doesn't mean there isn't one.
Yeah this outfit is ugh.
I can change the beds and the drapes but my characters clothes? Naaah.
I hope a recolor mod is possible. Who thought that ugly shade was a good pick anyway.

Haha, it's a good question.

Just to come in on this, then...

Yes, I have read (much of) the thread. I asked what the problem was and you kindly (well, ish) told me. So....
The outfit has a kind of leather-based, Elizabethan look to me.
Minus the balloon trousers, perhaps. Or...
Then again, Game Of Thrones has, I feel, some similar examples of the style... though I'll grant you most of these are more colourful.
The style, therefore, seems entirely appropriate and wearable by comparison to these examples. As I said, the colour choice for the Skyhold outfit may not be entirely inspiring but that might be because it compares so unfavourably to the colour of much of the interior of Skyhold. If it were worn elsewhere it might be seen as less of a problem. Who knows, maybe that's just how it looks in that build and it will be better in the finished version.
There were always going to be some things that were not ever going to be customisable, I guess - the colour of the castle stone, the trees in the garden, the drinks in the tavern (maybe), the position of every room in Skyhold - and it looks like this outfit has ended up being one of those. Considering the number of other things for the Inquisitor that can be customised it does seem surprising this outfit can't be, but I guess as with all of the other things like this it comes down to what you would be happy to lose to get this instead.
Can you suggest any customisation option you want to cut so we can customise this outfit instead - that won't upset someone else when they lose something they want?
I feel like I've somehow become the bad guy here - the poster who comes in and pokes people in their sensitivities. I'm not. But I think this issue could be so much worse than it actually is. I think it could look better (for a given, personal definition of better) but I don't think it looks awful. You clearly think it does look awful. Congratulations - you'll enjoy this game less than me.
They're only human. I would imagine it's as if you planned a birthday party for someone and spent a lot of time, effort and money to make it "just right", only to have the kid overlook everything and go, "But where is the pony?"Is it me, or does Laidlaw sound kind of annoyed?
Well, I agree it could be worse (that balloon trousers
). It always can be. But it could be much better (even leather boots would make a huge difference)
I'm really glad that there are people that like the outfit though.

I imagine they're exhausted and excited about launch and people are constantly tweeting them with complaints already, when the game isn't even out. I would be annoyed too, tbh.
Disclaimer: I am not saying the complaints or criticisms are unfounded in any way. Just playing Devil's Advocate in saying that being really exhausted and criticism, constructive or otherwise, could make a person slightly annoyed. I would like more ballroom options, myself.
Actually, my problem was with the cause of his annoyance, not with Laidlaw's response. From what was posted, it sounded like fans had been harassing the devs (again) and most likely they were being rude about it as well. Maybe I should edit my post a bit to reflect that...

Spoiler
While I tend to play female characters, I would love having Little-Finger's outfit here for a male character, that is a rather cool outfit.

It's another thing that is even worse than colour of casual outfit. I'm trying to not think about it. ![]()

Well, fans were just asking. I don't think they were rude about it. But you're never know for sure.

Nah more like a ugly low decoration downright abominable shade of color version.
Seriously she blended in with the walls in the stream. Just...what.
The damn thing could've at least been black or dark blue. (preferably dark blue) Bah.

Yeah, I really am sorry if I come across as rude. I'm blunt. It's a flaw.
And I agree, those styles have clearly been an influence , but it's sad to note though that your examples are all male. I don't actually mind the outfit on the m!Quiz, it seems so off for female though - ignoring the poor colour choice ofc.
I don't think any aspect of customization should even hypothetically need to sacrificed just to get some choice in casual clothing. I don't want 'clothes instead of x'. I just want... clothes. I'd be happy with just a 'wear armor around keep toggle'.
You haven't become the bad guy to me, you were just someone who happened to ask a pretty obviously answered question (seriously, so not trying to be rude, just don't know how to word this better).
I'm aware I am allowing these small things to bum me out. I know the game will be great, but disappointment is disappointment. I expect I'll still dislike the things I'm disliking now, once I get the game because they are flaws. I just hope that these sorts of vanity issues are as big as the problems get, man.
