It's a really weird design choice, I guess they just had too many other things that are arguably much more important to devote time to changing it. Still though, it is such a weird little outfit and one that doesn't really match anything in the preceding games or what we've seen of the current game. It's like a sparkly captains uniform. Yeah, just really odd choice to have you locked into it and have it be so strange.

The Inquisitor looks like guard at Buckingham Palace -- It is a rather odd uniform as is feel less like fantasy-inspired- accoutrements, and more like you're a waiter at some fancy fish restaurant.

On DA WIkia there has been an interview with Mark Darrah, where they asked why there is only one casual outfit and one ball uniform. Seems the reason is time and money.

That's what I suspected.  Well, I'm hope they had some cut content in the related to that to give us another outfit.  I know the devs are looking at in the causal clothes and hair, so maybe an appearance DLC is in the works.  <shrug>

Or throwing a very posh slumber party.

I don't mind the style, exactly. I think it could work.

I wish we could, at the very least, re-color it. If I could just get a differently colored top, and darken the boots to maybe a black or brown, I'd be far more satisfied with the outcome. I just can't stand the monotony in that single color from head to toe!

Great thread, and well said OTP. I think the outfit is nice, but bland. Dye options would be ideal. It does seem like someone sitting on a throne and doling out judgements would need a bit more...flair.

I've seen armors (or one armor crafted with like, tons different materials maybe) that use the skyhold pyjamas as a kind of base. And it looks pretty good with like, different patterns, and colours, and vests or coats over it...

If we could change the colours and/or patterns, I could picture my character just not bothering to put on the coat-vest-thing in the castle and be pretty happy with it.

The rest of the game looks amazing... but it is a shame we'll have to see our Inquisitor in a bedazzled flesh toned body suit with such frequency.  Color options would be most welcome!

At the very least color options for the default casual outfit. Better yet craftable casual outfits that reflect class, race or gender.

Wow. It looks absolutely amazing in those deep red and blue colors. Very rich.

I think maybe something like the bottom picture here would have looked pretty good as causal attire for mages maybe take away some of the fur on it so it doesn't look too warm. Putting it in spoiler tags for size.

Could someone post some screenshots of the various race inquisitors in their skyhold apparel? I'm particularly curious about how the female qunari looks in it.

Didn't see this thread, and I just made one saying how ridiculous the casual clothes are. No idea why you can't just walk around in your armour tbh, especially light and medium which basically look like clothes anyway.

Tbh, there are quite a few odd design decisions in the game.

What I see happening in most cases of previous games and this one: The player character attire is, most often, rather drab as most commoners and rank-and-file while that of important NPC's is usually very unique to the character.

I would suggest a line of unique attire for the player character that is customizable (aesthetically) for both casual wear and armor: Armor as per Class/Race/Gender and Casual per Race/Gender.

This is the same company that forced you to buy DLC with Mass Effect 2 in order to get a suit of armor for Garrus that wasn't broken. It's not that far out of reach.

Uh... Since it was purely cosmetic, you were not "forced" to buy additional looks for him.

Otherwise, might as well say...

Oh yeah I always did Jack's loyalty mission ASAP so I could put some clothes on that girl. Just looking at her made me feel cold. *shivers*

What gets me is that we get dozens of mounts, which we barely see as much as our character, yet we have no options to customize our casual wear. I don't know about everyone else, but I'm finding myself spending an insane amount of time in Skyhold and wishing nothing more that I could customize my character as much as the keep itself - or at least as much as Shepard in the Normandy in ME2 & 3.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a DLC in the near future that will answer these prayers :)

Actually I discovered that the casual look is your character "naked" or your underwear if you prefer.  Even out in the field, if you unequip your armor, bam you are wearing the casual outfit instead.

Please allow armor at skyhold or at least a couple of alternate outfits like in mass effect. I really dislike looking so bland in cutscenes.

Bland in cutscenes is the thing that nags on me, too. My advisors look awesome in their pompous clothes and armor and my (quite pale, which makes this even worse) Inquisitor looks like a minor background actor with his beige shirt. It's alright for the start in Haven, but in Skyhold I'd rather have even ONE other outfit to choose from (or keep my armor!) than having a dozend of carpets to choose from....
Would it be so hard and time consuming to just add a "Keep wearing armor in Skyhold" toggle or something the like?
