Yup, I <333333333 Leliana and generally prefer to operate my business in a covert/discreet manner so I do have some fondness for espionage and the like. I'll definitely favor her, just bites that she is not a romance.

Between diplomacy and military for #2, I am torn. On one hand, diplomacy can get allies in your pocket that make you stronger and cooperative efforts can yield the best results. On the other, let's just say that some people need a heavy hand. As for the advisers themselves, I figure to like both of them well enough.

I thought I'd be favoring Leliana, but now I'm not so sure. In one of the twitch streams Mike Laidlaw showed an operation where we could track down someone plagarising Varric's Hard In Hightown series. Scribbles' method of doing so was to contact a friend of hers in Antiva; Leliana's was to contract the Crows. WTH, the Crows? Over copyright infringement? Seems a little extreme.

My genereal plan on operations will probably be to reload to see what the different outcomes are, then pick the one I think is best.

Why do I get the feeling Cullen did far worse?

Cullen actually can't even go on that mission.

I will choose what i believe is the best solution when it comes to saving the citizens of Thedas. I will only ever do the opposite for the Trophies/Achievements because I am a completionist...a bad one but a completionist none the less.

Cullen actually can't even go on that mission.

Still, I do wonder what he would have suggested...

I....just don't like Cullen. I can't get over the fact that he is the Military Commander of the Inquisition when I feel that there are much more qualified people out there. Also, I usually end up disagreeing with him, so I'll probably be biased towards Leliana and Josie

Whether or not you have to, you'd probably want the perks of the adviser whose advise you follow most often. I mean, their perks will probably include equipment that helps out with their ways of doing things...

I don't see why agreeing with a general strategy for the Inquisition means adopt their style as your own. For example, I think trade and espionage > warfare, but I also believe in solving immediate problems (at least in fantasy RPGs) with a healthy dose of unrestrained violence.

I'll be biased towards common sence, I believe, "common sence" here being "genre saviness". We've already gotten hints that Bad Things Will Happen if you play darts with the advisers and just throw them at the War Table to see what sticks.

But it's also possible that me and my Inquisitors will develop some personal preferences / grudges depending on our desicions and the Advisers' dialogue. For example, if Cullen keeps putting his foot in his mouth regarding the mage/tempar issue, I and my mage Inquisitors will probably take all of his suggestions with a mountain of salt. Same goes to Liliana and Josephine.

But mostly I just want to Not Fail (unless I'm doing a Fail!Quisitor playthrough sometime in the future) and if that means taking advise from a guy/gal I don't particularly like but who is an expert on the issue, I can just deal with it.

Yes, I agree. I'd rather have the corpse of Loghain as my Military Commander than Cullen.

I'm going to be negatively biased towards Cullen, that's for sure.

Oh, God, so much this. I'd have liked your post more than once, but, alas.

Amen to that. Hell, I'd rather have Leliana as my military advisor than Cullen (hell, even Josephine sounds better).

Can I send Cullen on a mission to gather the head of Loghain as decoration for my Skyhold gates?  Bioware make it SO!

Hell, if they do that, that DLC will be on the top of my "to buy" list (or, they could just add it to the base game).

I'm just glad that I'm actually looking forward to getting the game and getting to know all the characters who will be sharing Skyhold with my Inquisitor.  DA2's rush job made it feel like a lot of the nuance that Bioware puts into their characters was missing.  And while I did like most of them, and a couple even stood out, I felt very disconnected from the characters in the story.  The fact that the course of the game's timeline is so spread out only added to that disconnection.

*Edit* I kid around, but there isn't a single character so far introduced who makes me want to just park them in Skyhold and not eke out every bit of characterization I can get from them.  Bioware does this aspect of their RPGs with consummate skill like no other company I know.

I get the feeling this time, Bioware has done, not just the game they have been wanting to make since they first conceived Origins, but the game that truly will take us players 'where no gamer has gone before'.

Bioware, make it so.

I'd like to execute Cullen for taking part in the slaughter of the Kirkwall Circle, and now I learn he will be the military commander, just great.

Don't like Leliana, as I'm mostly anti-Chantry, Maker is a horrible god.

My Inquisition is going to be interesting.

Probably for the best.

I'd been assuming that using your favored advisers style gave you some sort of bonus if you handled missions that way.

No bias.  Leliana and Cullen the Inquisitor meets are not the same people (in terms of history)  the Warden and Champion meet, and will have the Inquisitor react to them as if I haven't play DA:O and DAII.

This. I can understand people that don´t like some people because they did something in a different game, but I don´t see why they should let that affect the inquisitor. My inquisitor don´t know that Cullen for example wanted to kill all mages in the ferelden circle, then why should I let that affect my Inquisitor?

It depends on whom I'm roleplaying. My Trevelyan is likely to use a mix of diplomacy and military options, with Leliana mainly used for scouting. My pragmatic Cadash is likely to go Military and Spymaster mainly, with Josie given a few diplomatic/trading jobs.

Man, what's with all the Cullen hate? I get it if you don't like templars or are sick of his fanbase, but I think his qualifications are pretty incontrovertible. Who else would you have step up as High General?

My vote would be for Ser Cauthrien, if the Warden let her live.  Especially a "Nightmare difficulty/Arl of Denerim's estate" Cauthrien.  Hell, you wouldn't need an army then.

More seriously, Aveline would've been an interesting option.  Former officer, commander of the Kirkwall guard...she's got some relevant experience.  Not that I'm opposed to Cullen, but if there were any reason for another option, she might have made a good one.
