Now you know if EA offer you refunds, don't call your bank, and just simply let EA handle the matter.

I personally prefer to use Origin to run my game due to the offline feature that doesn't force you to sign in after a certain amount of time. EA was wrong to ban you and it's bad business practice. If that is true, I would go to reporters and news to get the story publish. We all know how big companies love bad presses and how bad presses love screwup. It doesn't hurt to try, even if they don't publish your story. It's not like you have anything to lose.
I have thought about it....contacting Channel 2 On Your Side. They love this kind of story, especially when it involves senior citizens.

EA was in the wrong to not unban him after everything was explained. A simple verification of IP addresses that have been using the OP's account would confirm if it's been hacked or not.
However, when you cause a chargeback on your card it's pretty standard to get your account disabled. Valve will do the exact same thing to you on Steam.
It looks suspicious to buy games and then cause a chargeback on the purchases. Even though they aren't games the OP likes EA doesn't actually know that.

Does Valve have a better way to resolve issues with hacked accounts, though?

PC Mustard Race = 0
Successful console peasants who get laid nightly = ∞
Seems a bit harsh to quit gaming altogether because of Origin, one company and one hacker. Perhaps stick to physical discs from now on and DRM-free digital downloads such as the ones that GoG offers and then you wouldn't have this problem.
Moral of the story, Origin and Steam suck, GoG rules. The only problem with GoG is that it doesn't offer the same library of games as Steam sadly.

I've never had to deal with it myself, but from what I hear neither EA's or Valve's customer service is all that great.

Actually no, I didn't. But I did uninstall all three of my Bethesda games and reinstall them with mod organizer. Those are the only games that I have on Steam. Just like DAO and the Mass Effect Trilogy are the only three games that I had on Origin.
