Going from PS3 to PC, I've noticed that the game feels completely different. On PC it is much easier to headshot but I don't seem to have the same manueverability as on the console, namely moving and using powers.

Is there a possible control scheme that can combat this nuisance or do I just have to put more time into it and let muscle memory do work?

Has anyone played console and PC? If so, are there any differences that I'm just going to have to adapt my play style to?

I play ME3 on both Xbox and PC (and I've played a fair bit on the WiiU) and it really is just something that you have to get used to. Somewhere about 12 to 50 hours in it clicks and starts feeling ok.

Also, eventually you stop having to think about which key to press, and the F and 1-2-3 start just getting pressed without too much thought.

I actually gamed on PC for a long time before ever touching a console, and I found console after PC to be the easier adaptation due to controller ergonomics. But I then played ME3 on console first, so it felt somewhat strange going to PC, especially since the ME3 default keys on PC are slightly odd compared to most other PC games.

Of course, I'm a scrub (not one of the godly like you) wherever I play so keep that in  mind.

I moved the 3 powers to capslock/mouse-scroll-up (1), q (2) and e (3). This helped a lot to prevent cramped hands. It also makes using tactical cloak a breeze, scroll up, press q/e or fire.

i put ops pack and themal packs on the optional buttons on the left. Scroll down for missile, scroll up for surfing cover, scroll push for weapon swap.

Right optional buttons are for mouse sensitivity, i dont use them, maybe i should. I wonder if some of U guys change sensitivity when sniping ? Nah, too slow on moving target and useless on the other ones.

for power, 1 2 3 are clearly not optimal, but, i m used to them now.

MWheel up: Power 2

MWheel down: Power 3

Thumb Button: Medigel for Reload Animation Cancel

Doesn't work well with Flamer but goes well with most kits.

I never liked the default WSAD keyboard map that most games seem to use nowadays.

Arrow keys for movement plus 1,2,3 on the Numpad for powers (and 5,6,7,8 for Ops Packs and so on) has worked fine for me. Probably mostly a matter of getting used to a certain key setup.

Do you use the mouse with your left hand, or shove the keyboard way over to the left?

A couple tips for PC gaming with mouse/keyboard:

Deactivate mouse acceleration. Nearly all laser sensor mice have it and it utterly screws with muscle memory because the acceleration is nonlinear. If you feel like you want to be able to turn faster (ie.: with less moving the mouse), you can increase ingame sensitivity. Alternatively, you can also try to adjust your mouse's dpi settings, though I recommend starting at around 800dpi and then periodically increasing or decreasing in little steps as you feel if you want more or less.

Regarding keyboard keybindings, you can try ESDF instead of WASD if you play games that come with a couple more keys to routinely press. ESDF doubles the quickly accessible keys compared to WASD and if you're just starting with it, might aswell start get accustomed to that layout instead of the traditional WASD.

Other than that, coming from console to PC you just need to adapt to the new controls and learn the muscle memory, that's it.

Mouse: right hand
Keyboard: left hand
I'm going to get this to work.

The latter.

Edit: I use the forward thumb mouse button for the "omni-key".

WASD for movement

1, 2, 3: powers
4, Q, E: gel, rockets, ops packs (don't remember exactly which button for what)
Middle Mouse button: Thermal Clip

Mouse sensitivity at 4410 DPI.

I play with the standard settings. I think the only thing I changed was the "scoot around a corner in hard cover" button and that was for single player. It is definitely not the best option but I got used to it and now I'm too lazy to change. ^^

Mouse sensitivity at 4410 DPI.

That's a lot of dpi. In fact, probably too much unless you're using an extremely high resolution. I get odd looks (figuratively speaking) for my 2500 dpi (on a 1080p resolution) which already is on the far end of the spectrum what people would still call a playable setting and any higher than that and I get grossly imprecise.

I don't know what my resolution is (are we talking screen resolution?) but the main idea is that I don't like to move the mouse around a whole lot so I usually play with pretty high DPI in every game.

Yes, screen resolution.

And I also do not move my mouse much at all, pretty much all movement is just the wrist.

The day I discovered about Mouse Dampening, and that it could be removed, changed my life.

And then I had to get used to playing without it. But it was totally worth it.

Also I tried setting my mouse to hyper sensitivity to 360noscope and sh*t but no. I'm just a scurb made for low speed.

My keys are mostly default but I've changed medigel and ops packs to Q and E. I don't know, my pinky is weak and I'm used to 1, 2, 3, 4 for powers. I would say you should stick to it but I've been playing on PC since I was a kid so I have no idea how it is for you.

I've tried playing a bit on console and I just don't understand how you can aim with a controller. It's beyond me. I can move around or move my camera but not both xD You console people are weird :P

Hope you'll get used to PC and have fun on it though.

Do you run this game at 60fps, or 30 and lower?

Turn Mouse Dampening off... horrible thing.

Then it's jsut a matter of getting used to whatever sensitivity you use.

i wonder if i have the dampening on :)

Then i ll check the dpi. Is the mouse sensitivity of gamersetting.ini taking that into account ? and the windows sensitivity ?

I have Heavy Melee on one of my mouse side buttons because when it was bound to 'F' I could never find the damn thing in time.
Problem solved.

I now have Gel bound to 'F'.
Was to try and make reload cancelling go a bit better.
Nope. Still bugger it up most of the time because I can't find the right key.
BUT, when I get taken down I can hit 'F' before I realise I've done it.

I'm kinda weird :-\

The settings stack in a complicated and largely unpredictable way, depending on whether your game goes through the windows layer or straight to the driver. You really have to experiment. I now mostly use a Roccat that has the DPI switch on the top of the mouse so you can compare in game.

Okay, so... Time for the n00b question: what's mouse dampening? Is it something peculiar of this game, or is it a general setting of the mouse?

KB+M is something that just takes time. I hated it for about 6 months to a year.
