How will you go about crafting weapons/armor in DAI?

I'll admit, in most rpgs I tend to be a 'non-crafter' (exception being Kingdoms of Amalur and Skyrim to a lesser degree). I prefer switching to better weapons/armor from loot, and when it comes to potions there's little gold can't buy. But from what we've seen with DAI's weapon/armor crafting system, which is pretty damn impressive in my opinion, I have to say that's one of the elements I'm most interested in.  What has me even more interested is that you can craft weapons and armor for your companions as well. I know I will be spending a good deal of time in Skyhold making awesome weapons for my party members, even those that don't come along for the ride.

That said, will you assign a 'theme' to your weapons and armor crafting? Will you have a specific focus for each companion, or will you just assign them whatever looks cool/superpowered at the moment? For instance:

Elementalquisition- Each party member is assigned a specific element (Cassandra- Fire Weapons/Resistance, Sera- Lightning Weapons/Resistance, Vivienne- Ice Staff/Casts Frost-based spells, Solas-Nature Resistance/Nature Damage, etc...)

Armorquisition, Fabquisition- While each party member has their own distinct style that the armor tailors itself to, there is an overall look it has. So will you be putting breastplates and helms or only the most stylish feathered hats tailor made to each companion's appearance? Or will different companions get different focuses?

Would love to hear ideas and plans from you guys!

I would try going for a general uniform look, at least in terms of coloration. For my first human mage Inquisitor's team I was hoping for maybe a green and purple look, just to be unique. I might stick with neutral insignias when possible and then perhaps those that reflect my Inquisitor's magical heritage. I was thinking a simple black and white coloration originally but the color black really is not pretty to look at and in this game I will need bright colors to make out my team against the bloom and gloom of the Frostbite Engine, and green and purple sounds nice. There is the option to have your mages geared in armored attires (plate shinguards for instance) but I will instead have them opt for more lighter attire.

I really want my Inquisitor to have one of those cool brimmed cavalier hats :)

Haha, for the beginning of my game / first playthrough, I will most likely be winging it, getting the hang of the crafting system and the benefits of each component.  After experimentation, I will try to going for distinct looks, maybe ones that would fit each character's personality.  I usually go for what's effective in a fight for a particular class.  Being able to fully craft weapons and armor is a great mechanic that I'll spend a lot of time on as well.   :P

I'll hoard all the best materials until I find an armor and weapon schematic I like that fits my character, then build it up from there.

my knight enchanter is wearing plate. Nice solid magically enchanted plate.  He'll be a front line paladin type mage so anything that increases his spell damage and resistances.

As for colors. I was thinking silver and aqua colors. I love that color scheme for plate. Plus, Kaz uses plenty of frost magic so it'll fit thematically.
