Not being able to edit character appearance in multiplayer besides armor/weapons, seems like such wasted potential, when you have such and indepth facial editor for the single player campaign. Why do I have to look like every other clone running around in multiplayer?????
No facial customization seems like such wasted potential

Well they wanted to have a specific set of characters for MP and I suppose they count the appearances as part of the characters as well.

CC in multiplayer could make sense if it were limited. Like only allow facial, skin, and hair options.
But I do like the characters and don't mind having to use them. Especially if they end up having character quirks that aren't normally in CC.

Each character is not meant to represent you, as the player but meant to let your teammates know what role you are filling at a glance. Later on, more class/race/gender/skillset combos will be released and maybe aesthectically will be more pleasing for different players.

Each multiplayer character is their own character with their own appearance and backstory, just like the companions and NPCs in the singleplayer. They are only the players' avatars in that you can assume control of them,

It's multiplayer. No cutscenes, no dialogues, no pause during combat. Editing your facial appearance would serve no purpose.
Now, if the game had body sliders, that would be a different story.

If all they gave you were characters that you didn't like the look of (Maybe your not picky, but I am and I know other people are)...you're telling me that wouldn't matter?
If you couldn't rotate around the character and you only ever saw their back..sure...

I'm sure they will be able to tell what role you are by the outfits you wear. Like if you have a shield, most likely your not dps....

Nah, it wouldn't matter to me at least. I wouldn't know if I am particularly picky or not compared to others, but nevertheless I suspect my character's facial appearance won't matter in a game mode, where my perspective is this for 99% of time ->

Besides even if the option was given, I probably would be stoked for about five games, and then forget it's even there (that happened with the MEMP customization). Be it a dungeon crawler or horde mode, but it doesn't take too long until it's just about business with monster killing and looting.
I have to admit though, that I also do care about a character customization. I hope that they give us enough tools for that, even if they are pre-set characters, which are fully scripted and have their own personalities and everything. Albeit for a different reason than do I personal like characters' appearances aesthetically or not.

Even if they did include it. What 'potential' is it you think they're actually wasting? If anything implementing the CC for each character you chose to play as would be a waste of time and resources.

They wanted individual characters.
Maybe in DA:MP's next venture, where character's thoughts, opinions, and appearances aren't important. (That reeks of heresy tho. Hail the Emprah!)

TBO, the only thing I really ould care to see is just being able to swap genders......but really.....it doesn't matter, it will all come out in the wash and I will probably forget I am even playing a male or female.

Exactly, it's not an MMORPG. It's 95% the action with 5% inventory management. No idle, no "jobs", no "daily quests", no "boring" stuff (highly subjective I admit). It's like an MMO on many levels, but it's stripped of too many things to be one. Stop looking at DAMP like an MMO because it's not.

Just play as the Keeper, then there will be no doubt in your mind that you are playing as a male
And female toons in MMPORPGs get all the free stuff
