the warden had a much longer game, three dlc, and an expansion. There story is done, and people need to realise that. Now hawke on the other hand had two great dlc, and that's it..and the way the story was left at the end of DA2 clearly indicated there was going to be a sequal/ expansion pack...but it had to be canceled..when it was almost done, and rather than waste all that time and effort they moved some aspects over to DAI. So we get to see the conclusion to hawkes story, alongside a new story with the inquisitor.
And Femhawke combined with sarcasim, is hella sexy tbh.
An warden that follows Morrigan is not done yet. I would say the same about wardens that marry Alistair/Anora.

The issue is that there are like… a tone of Wardens who don't fit those. A lot of them are dead, for example. Hawke just wanders off, easy to bring back (also unfinished), whereas the Warden has so many ways to potentially end their story I have doubts they'll actually show up in a major way in the future.

It feels like Bioware is kind of pushing us to the US ending, otherwise we are playing the game "wrong". Unlike Hawke the Warden loses all relevance to the story once Origins is done.

Yeah, I feel like that too, and it makes me sad. US Warden, Alistair is king, blah blah blah.

The issue here is that the Warden's story essentially does end. This is partly because DA:O clearly functions as a closed narrative. Its plot is more-or-less entirely self-contained. The Blight begins, a hero rises through adversity and defeats the Blight. There are loose ends, to be sure, but the arc of the hero is essentially complete.
Hawke is different. The entire premise of DA2 (the framed narrative) is based on the fact that Hawke is still relevant to the world after the events of the game. This is partly why DA2 feels narratively incomplete compared to Origins. The events in Kirkwall come to a climax, but the events in Kirkwall essentially function as a prologue to DA:I. They are mostly about how a current and escalating conflict began, whereas DA:O is about how a conflict began and ended. The fact that Hawke, for good or ill, has become a symbol of the still-ongoing Mage-Templar War—either as a symbol of liberation or of repression—grants her or him an enduring relevance to the story.

the problem with that is the origin characters are now involved. not only that but they leave the warden has "disappeared" for unexplained reasons leaving his or her story unfinished. it puts bioware in a tight spot if u ask me. i wouldnt mind a warden conclusion (that doesnt involve him or her automatically dying) as dlc, maybe play as them doing something else helping the inquisition indirectly

As for hawke, I'm curious to see how that develops, especially since I'm planning on having a pro templar inquisitor while my hawke was pro mage....could be messy, or hilarious.

Thanks guys, because of all of the sarcastic hawke love in this therd I will now have to play back through DA2 to experience it. Only played diplomatic and aggressive
I warn you. There are a lot of times where Purple Hawke actually seems like the most unhinged, sociopathic of them all. Way more than aggressive Hawke a fair few times.
I'm currently playing a sassy gay Hawke playthrough and I'm doing Mark of the Assassin and my God... I forgot how funny sarcastic Hawke is in it.

Sassy Gay Hawke is Best Hawke.

Yeah, I will admit this is an issue. Honestly, unless they have some serious plans up ahead for the Hero of Ferelden I'd have never really touched them again after Origins with the exception of the odd reference here and there in a codex or a line of dialogue. I guess we will find out.

Actually, I don't think it did (the latter bit). I remember changing Hawke quite substantially and Carver stayed default Carver.
You had to change your "base" face (one of the default faces) to impact family. That or skin tone. Although either way, the fluff for the mirror says it is retconning your appearance, so yeah.

Speaking of which, I wonder if Bethany and carver will show up as well
I imagine it's probably a sure bet if either of them are Grey Wardens. Then again, depending on how the Wardens are, this may not be a good thing.

I don't think so - I changed Hawke's face and skin colour mid-way through one playthrough and Carver, Leandra, and Gamlen all stayed default.

That's what always kept me away from it. I know it's a game and all, but it's hard to be a sarcastic ******* all the time. I've watched some pnline and some of the stuff sarcastic Hawke says makes me want to hit him/her lol

I just thought of something -- remember how Cassandra gets all swoony over Hawke at some point when Varric's telling his story? It will be great to see them meet in person!
Yes, I would ship a Hawke/Cassandra pairing. ![]()

I can't wait for purple!Hawke and Dorian to meet. Along with Varric and my Inquisitor, I'm sure a new Rift will appear from the sheer amount of concentrated sass in one area.

They both sucked in DA2, especially an actress who voiced FemHawke.
BLASPHEMY! Femhawke had the best voice!

If you play Lady Hawke, I find it's far easier to just shift tone at appropriate times, since she has a far less tone-defined style than Man Hawke. Even though a lot of my characters end up with dominant tone Purple, I very rarely played full-purple all the way through.
With Man Hawke it's harder to pull off, since he often sounds like a totally different person if you switch tone.

Keep in mind Bioware said The Warden will not make a physical appearance but that there will be some quests that have to do with The Warden, also Lady Insanity not long ago posted a video analyzing the Inquisitor and Followers Trailer and she came up with a very interesting theory. Hawke shows up 7 times in the trailer and in each part of gameplay that has Hawke helping the party The Inquisitor is missing, it shows Hawke, Stroud, Sera, Iron Bull and Dorian fighting but the Inquisitor is MIA. She speculates what if for a brief part of the game something happens to the Inquisitor and we take control of Hawke,

Yeah, this is 110% accurate.
Purpe Hawke is probably one of the best one wo/man video game character case studies in "traumatic events which the subject responds to by using humour as a coping mechanism" because damn, Puple Hawke is one damaged human being. (Not saying that Diplo! or Red!Hawkes aren't but good lord, it's so clear in Purple!Hawke's case.)
Also s/he has the most heart-wrenching line in the whole game:
Purple Hawke just rules. One of my favourite video game protags ever.
But OT: I'm ridiculously happy to have Hawke in the game! I have a feeling that Purple Hawke and Dorian/Sera/Iron Bull banter would be amazing. I hope there's some in the game.
