It works! Just did it today at least twice. If you hit her sword with a Javelin you're removing her melee capabilities for good.

This for me is the most satisfying way to be honest, give them a bit of their own medicine.  I didn't play the shadow for a long time but now really like the class.  (I can hear team mates muttering under the breath as I prance around the maps kill stealing however.)
