Oh hell no!!! No way i'm going to play BW games in Italian.....the voice acting is atrocious. I've always put the game language in english with english subtitles. If it were for me they shouldn't even bother translating it. Speaking english is by now an educational standard.

No, no, no, nonononono. I have tried Mass Effect in German once and it gave me ear cancer.

Exactly that. I wish I could unhear Miranda in German. It was only in a YT video since I never play a game that wasn't made by a German developer in my own language if it has any voice acting at all, but it was quite enough to make my ears fall off.

The last game with VA I played in German was Spellforce (1) and its extensions. The VA for the female Rune Warrior was so good that I recall it to this day. Dubbing in movies is often ok to good. Dubbing in games....not so much.

I speak English, but it would be cool if it were dubbed in Hebrew, but I doubt that would happen.

If that ever happened, I would sew my ears shut. Danish dubbing is horrible and makes me wish I was deaf.

I prefer my games to be immersive and free of shitty voice acting.

Yeah, what my countryman here said. I'd rather not play the game at all than play it in Danish.

Hell, it even annoys me that I can't get all descriptions on Xbox Live and Origin to keep feeble Danish translations away. Just...give...me...English.

No way, tried playing DA:O in Polish and it killed me. Was a mix of bizzare and funny.

NO! I want the original, too many jokes get lost in translation. I don't want silly words in my playthrough. Entertainment is serious business! Always keep the original available for buyers. I'm gonna rage if I end up with a German version that can't be altered to the original cast.

A Dutch dub is highly unlikely and they don't have to bother for me either. We rarely use dubs in the Netherlands, only for Disney movies and shows, and cartoons meant for children. The selection of voices for Disney movies is excellent, but I highly doubt the same quality can be expected of a game translation and I don't want to miss some of the excellent voice actors Bioware hires. I can't imagine missing out on Gideon Emery's voice. :crying:  I'd just stick to the English version with English subtitles. Not that they would have Dutch subtitles to select to begin with.

The last TR had Dutch subs that seemed of decent quality, but I switched them to English after a while. The only other game I've played that had Dutch subs and menus was Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and they were horrible. They couldn't even get the word for "loading" (in a loading screen) right. It said "lading" instead of "laden". <_<

Although the German VO is okay, it simply isn't the original.
I'm happy that I'm on the PS4. Eng VO ftw!

For me personally, for BioWare games english version with english subtitles. Original actors are usually superior. I know this language well enough though.

In a perfect world, games released with an option to change the language of voices and subtitles. Not everybody knows English and I can understand how looking at subtitles can be distracting.

Russian localisations usually use all the same actors from game to game. ME so called gold edition was horribad; and while the voices were decent, they made a lot of technical mistakes with DAO (giving male voices to female NPCs, not deleting VA mistakes and such). Oh, and of course Leliana's adorable accent was lost.

I must say that I liked polish and russian versions of the Witcher better than english one though. Depends on the developer and effort, I guess.

I definitively wouldn't like to see the option taken away from me to play the game in german, even though I usually end up playing it in english only.

In my case it has nothing to do with bad german voice actors, I don't think it's done too badly.

I wouldn't use the english original as often as I do, if the german dubbed version could handle the salutations properly. All the "Sies" (respectively "Ihr/Euch" regarding DA) everywhere you go, that's what I can't stand. It's fine as long as you don't know the characters you're talking to, but as soon as they become your friends or even your lover, this turns to ridiculousness. Having your lover confess his/her love in a overly honorific form totally ruins this scene and all further conversations with this companion for me.

Only if its done in dramatic colloquial Egyptian Arabic...

The cinematics would have to be modified though. It would need 100x the face close ups during conversations.

It would be good for a laugh... Gotta love their dubs.

I saw one piece of advice that to get the dash in English was to set your address to another country with English as the first language.

So maybe try the address of your embassy in London. (or a pub)

absolutely not

the italian translation of Mass Effect was approximate at best and just plain wrong at worse and the dubbing, while generally not horrible, wasn't near as good as the original (with the exception of maleShep, IMO)

if they will ever make an italian dubbing of a dragon age game I really hope they will let us switch to the original

Maker NO!

We have like 5 voice-actors in Norway, and none of them would work. Not even a bit!

In this particular case, I don't think it's a good idea because of the different accents they use depending on the character's origin, with Isabela being an exception. That part would be lost in translation. Don't even think about putting Spain and Latino voices in the same game, I don't want to imagine the internet arguments about how each other suck and should die.

In general I like the dubbing. The Spanish voices of Mirror's Edge are as good or better than the English ones. Same for Grim Fandango and The Longest Journey. People complain about Jennifer Hale voicing every female character ever; we can say something similar about our own Nuria Mediavilla. I like both so no problem.

TBH I hate localizing in most games, what I mean by that is when they ship the game and you cannot put it into english (looking at you Halo). No offense to spanish voice actors. I've heard some very good ones, sometimes I even put a game in spanish because they're better. In the case of Halo for example the spanish ones are really good, I just prefer how Master Chief sounds in english (I swear Cortana sounds almost the same) oh and I'm sorry to whoever did it in spanish, she was good, but I so wanted to hear Jennifer Hale's spartan in 4 :(

My point is that if they want to dub the game to other languages that's fine, just let us pick in which language we can experience the game.

No, I absolutely hate and despise dubs of any and each kind.

Seriously, burn them all with the heat of a thousand exploding suns.

Dubs show a manifest disrespect for the source material, the cultural background of that material and the original language it was made in. Exceptions can occur when the original actors need to have their voicetracks redubbed.

Dubbing in The Witcher definitely stands out from the rest of the polish game dubs. For me, it's even better than english version. Maybe that's because polish simply fits to slavic aesthetics of the game (especially TW1) and CD Projekt puts a lot of effort in polish dubbing (unlike other games)

Despite only knowing a little, little bit of Polish myself I played The Witcher with Polish voices with English subs after having tried out the English voices. The first feeling that struck me was that this is how the game is meant to be played. It improved the feel to it greatly. As far as I could tell the acting was really good too.

Nothing against Doug Cockle, but I prefer Jacek Rozenek as Geralt.

Absolutely not! I watched my brother play an old game that had swedish voices in it, we both laughed our asses off at how ridiculous it sounded. Trust me, we don't need more of that!

Was it the first Diablo by any chance? Remember playing it in Swedish on Playstation and it was... comical to say the least. :P
