If you allow your ISP to change the settings of your router, then you need to either block their access or get a new router/ISP. This is a huge security issue. It means they have full access to your LAN, too.
I'm sorry to have to say this, but that's mostly wrong.
Where does your WAN IP address come from? Your ISP. Where does the DNS cache come from? Your ISP. Who decides the MTU settings? Your ISP. And so on. And none of that gives them access to your LAN. And even so, every shred of your traffic passes over their network, and in many countries (well, all those that spy on their citizens**) that means it is all traced and recorded for future use.
** That is to say, every one, with the possible exception of Tuvalu.

Yeah. I've sunk as much as $30 in ME3, and only gotten about 1200 hours of entertainment back. Warner Bros would have given me a whole 90 minutes of emotional rollercoaster for that, and charged me an extra $10 for the popcorn.
