Pretty interesting. I never liked most of the gaming site mentioned but while this wasn't shocking it's still disappointing. It's worth a read if only because it mentions the Retake MassEffect movement that went on.

Actually just google - "gaming journalist google group" there are more in depth articles then the one I linked above. It pisses me off a little to be honest.

Oh, apparently this is called Gamergate lol.

Maybe I am late the the party but I just discovered this. Not happy but not surprised either.

I... No. I'm not doing this.

I seriously doubt that there was a 'conspiracy' among gaming journalists to tell gamers that they were acting entitled back when the ME3 ending controversy broke. More likely, people who work in the same industry (gaming journalism), that follow the same events and that listen to each other's coverage... end up saying similar stuff as each other. One of them called us entitled. A few others saw the piece, agreed with it(*), and wrote their own version.

That's all that needs to have happened, not some phantom conspiracy.

(*) A note for the record - That was their opinion, not mine. I'm not stating my own opinion on how gamers were acting in the aftermath... because, well, there were a bunch of different reactions, and trying to give them all one sweeping description is not going to work.

I still have no idea what this gamergate is about, and quite honestly, I doubt I'd care.

Wonderful contribution, I know.

Its less conspiracy (though I'm sure, by its definition, there's some of that going on like there is everywhere else), but more holy-crap-can-you-even-try-some-objectivity? These people are not good at hiding things. They're just very very very easily biased and go with the flow, because games industry = networking.

GamerGate isn't necessarily something you should care about. I can just easily understand what some would.

Myself, I'm a mostly tepid supporter of it, except when journos go full-idiot and put me in their wide target. No Kotaku, I am not that white straight male nerd virgin child/manchild being painted by your (and others') agreed upon narrative. I do not endorse harassment. I do want journos to disclose relationships, even supposedly benign ones, with the subjects that they are writing about. 'Grow up' yourselves.

All of the threads on this subject have ended poorly. Sorry but we are done here.
