To clarify something I forgot to add, the kids are aquired by helping people in the open world. They are lost in the war with no other place to go and you could if you want to take them in, that is the adoption thing. And they live in the orphanage that you build up.

So I thought it could be cool to make you able to adopt kids later on (as DLC) to make the game feel more alive, the kids will not become fighters but you could do quests for them to learn more of the world and of their personalities.

You become kinda like the parent that they lost, and they look up to you at first like anyone would when looking at a soldier or king/queen, but later on they become more trusting and start to view you like a parent.

You could assign them to some of your party members for laughs, like varric telling funny stories (probbably lies) with them or Sera teaching them pranks, Leliana singing to them and etc.

You create a school for them to be in and you assign some party members (maybe) to become teachers for them, like I can se Josie being a history teacher? and so on, could be cool

This is purely for immersion and for some laughs, I like to have the option to be able to have kids in games cause it makes the game feel more real.

You could "adopt" kids from other races as well.

Wished it worked in mass effect or SWTOR  :(

If anything I would buy it as DLC on the spot

Sorry for bad english and for a useless topic

It worked in Skyrim, so I don't see why it couldn't be a possibility in DAI as well.

If it was implemented well, I'd have no problems with it.  I would like to have the option of adopting children of different races and not just human children.  Would like to see what a dwarven or Qunari child looks like.

Maybe it could be a discussion with your LI beforehand?  Or maybe your LI could react to it differently depending on whether or not you discussed it with them?  That would make it even more realistic, imo.

It won't happen. If BW tells the story of an adventurer raising a child, they're going to make that part of the core storyline.

Nice  :D  I forgot to ad the part of dfifferent races to my original post. Only accepting Human kids is not something MY quizi would do. And discussing it with the LI would make for some very interesting banther, specially with either Sera or Josie  :P

Bioware has already said there won't be things like marriage or parenting in Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The closest thing you'll get is Cole.

Eh... Cole is a bit big to bounce on my Inquisitor's knee and I'll be damned if I give him a piggy back ride.

I think I'll have to pass...

Not if you're a qunari, I doubt they have trouble carrying a dried up corpse.

Well, he is a spirit so he could weigh next to nothing if he wants.

while it would be interesting to explore the concept of Hero with children & a family, I'd prefer if it were a core part of the game & story rather than tact on like in Skyrim or Fable.

A game about a Hero who is protecting their family or village from a great evil, that focuses on the emotional impact that that has on a person, could be really cool.

But kids don't add much to the game if they have no impact on the story. I could totally ignore my wife & kids in Skyrim for days, weeks or months of in game time and there are no consequences. My kids still run up to me calling me Mamma & being happy to see me, my Wife is still happy with me.

Dragon Age Inquisiton is about saving the world from demons.

Not a life simulator.

It's not enough that most people are just focusing on romance options, but now they want our world-saving protagonists to waste their time adopting and rasing a little Theodosian with their LI or as a single parent,

lol... good point actually.  That should make him easy to carry up to his room at nap time at least.  -_-

I wouldn't want to see this implemented, it works in some games, but in Dragon age it just doesn't fit. Could you imagine having a kid running around the Normandy?

I'd rather not have kids in the game. In Skyrim, it's a bit different. You adopt a couple of kids, leave them with your spouse or Housecarl and can practically ignore them. You go home once and a while, bring them a gift and they tell you how awesome you are, give you something in return and it's happy trails again. Dragon Age is much more about interaction with those around you. Your companions are an important part of the story. I don't want to feel saddled and responsible for a kid or have my decisions based on them--which I would feel compelled to do. While I loved, loved, loved Clem in The Walking Dead, I found that every decision my "Lee" made was reflected on how it would affect Clementine. It was all about keeping her safe and cared for--not that I didn't love and appreciate that kind of story, but I feel Dragon Age is a different layer of decision making. I would rather resources be spent on a DLC that fits in with the story.

I'm way more interested in seeing development for the adopted "family" that the Inquisitor already has.  Like others said, I wouldn't want children involved unless they were written into the core game from the beginning; anything else wouldn't be enough to fully explore the emotional implications.

Besides, this is Dragon Age.  If they introduced a kid into the mix, do you think the writers would be able to resist making it demon-possessed or doomed to die a terrible death?  If there is one thing Dragon Age has taught me, it's that you should always be afraid when a child is on screen.

Adoption!

Err... no. It wouldn't fit in the focused way that BW creates their games. The story would need to have a reason for that choice, one that would move the plot forward. Adopting a kid just for the sake of having that option wouldn't be relevant for storytelling purposes, and also on the way they manage development resources.

Morrigan has a kid. That's an interesting plotline that began two games ago.

The only thing I wish to adopt is Velanna, though I don't think she'd take kindly to her adoption.

I see it un necessary  to include adoption feature in dragon age I because with all the chaos that is surrounding you will not have time to look after the child and see how your husband/wife going.

I didn't mind Skyrim adoption feature but I would have prefer if you could have your own child and had the option to adopt a child if you wanted to.

In Skyrim you couldn't really do much  with the child which I found pretty pointless of having the adoption feature in the first place.

Why only adopt human childern how come you couldn't adopt a Wood elf, High elf, Dark elf etc.

Aerie's inventory child!

Or, as I like to call it, Backpack Bhaalspawn.

Excellent writing and usage of a concept, surely.

If inventory is good enough for Boo and Ser Pounce-A-Lot, it is good enough for a kid
