Hello all, I am sorry for what may seem a stupid question.

I just recently got into the Beta for DA Keep and I am feeling a little overwhelmed and confused.  Mostly because I cannot figure out how to get my character 'made' or loaded into the Tapestry.  There's a bunch of preloaded possibilities, but when I read the FAQ it says that while there is no import of old saves, there should be a way to have a portrait and name of your character at least.  However I don't see any way of doing so.

I played DAO and DA2 on a friends PC, and imported my saved games onto a flash drive "just in case" when I heard DAI was coming out.  I don't think I ever had an online vault though, since we never used the online connections or cared about the achievements being stored there.  Am I out of luck?  Is there no way to have my Warden and my Hawke keep the names and 'look' they had?  Am I forced to muddle through with the premade options?

There isn't any way for you to upload your look of the character, even if the profile was working.
I believe the information comes from whatever you have connected to Bioware's online servers,
which I think is also Origin? So, I'm pretty sure you have to have had some kind of connection to
the internet to at least get your name into the Keep.

In the Keep, there is a banner with a link. On the banner is scribed that sync and char impotation are disabled. The link explain everything in detail.

The link keeps leading me to a dead page:

Sorry, we couldn't find that!

So... I just want to know, is everyone else also just picking the premade Default Heroes as well?  If so, then I will feel less stupid.  I just thought we would get to at least use our original character names,  :(

Try logging out and logging back in on the forum after clicking the link?

Yea, I have done that several times.  I keep getting the same dead page.  I don't know why.

They're moving that information to the keep, all information if locked for now, and this is normal to happen until the process is finished.

If you're in the Beta, you need to ask those questions here: http://forum.bioware...ragon-age-keep/

It should be visible to you. There's plenty of help there. The open beta starts on the 29th for everyone.

You can see the sub forum at the bottom of the Dragon Age forum Hub

That page is not visible to me.  Hence my confusion and why I posted here.  I apologize, but that forum simply will not let me in and I have nowhere else to post for help.

Try logging out of the keep and forums and then log into forums then keep.

IF that doesnt work Send an email to onlinecommunity @ bioware, com (without the spaces) saying that your account cant access the keep forums

There will be no save importing all the decision in the keep you need to make yourself. Once sync is back, expect to see your custom hero's and achievements (plus owned DLC) showing up in there. The Hero's will not show their level and are merely an option along with the "Default".

Ahhh, I expect that I would have to have had an online account for DAO and DA2 then to be able to do so?  Can I do that if I didn't own the games myself?  I always ignored the online community menu for DA before, so forgive my ignorance.

Yes, you can use the Keep without owning any of the previous games.

See this for more info while you wait to be let in:

If you havent played the previous games. Don't worry about those characters, just watch the videos of peoples playthroughs and read the wiki for more info on each choice.

I played the games, I just never stored any of my character information online when I played through the campaigns, because I didn't much care for the Acheivement trophies and such.  I am regretting this now, because it sounds like the ONLY way you get to keep the continuity of your characters in DA Keep is for those older play-throughs to have been shared in the online community menu of those games.  :(

The focus of Dragon Age is to always have a different character from game to game while preserving the changes you've done to the world. It's not a problem if you have lost your characters. It's how you changed the world that matters. And the Keep allows anyone to create any world state from scratch.

Nope, thats not how it works. Importing is only superficial, no actual worldstate data. No character levels and build data.
