The issue is that alignments dont even work well in D&D, nothing is ever so clear cut. Each person or character does what they think best per their motivations. So at times a NE character may act more LE if it benifits their cause in the long run. And CE people generally are considered insane and thus do not remain alive or free for too long.

I'd say Solas fits True Neutral best, given how his 'refusal to believe in goods and evils' is something they've made pretty clear is a big part of his character.

Sera seems to be the quintessential chaotic good, yeah.

Not sure what I'd say is the best fit for anyone else.

The only thing I can say is that Cole fits Neutral Good. He works to help people no matter what, isn't opposed to allying with anybody willing to do good, and is a generally good person who isn't trying to protect or abolish rules and all that.

Outside that? I got nothing for nobody else

Lawful Good: Cassandra.

Neutral Good - Blackwall (His a Warden so he should be willing to break the law and kill innocents to stop the enemies)

Chaotic Good - Varric, Cole.

Lawful Neutral - Vivienne

True Neutral - Solas

Chaotic Neutral - Iron Bull, Sera.

I don't know enough about Dorian to judge whether his good, neutral or evil and whether he cares about following the law or not.

Lawful Good- Blackwall

Blackwall seems like your archetypal armored protector who is willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Something tells me he wasn't always altruistic or 'good', but he expresses remorse for past misdeeds

Neutral Good- Josephine

Seems genuinely good aligned and not malicious

Chaotic Good- Leliana, Sera

Leliana supports covert and less conventional ways to achieve the greater good, including breaking conventional laws and using dark tactics to fight darkness so to say.

Sera comes off as a Robin Hood type, using crime to aid the disenfranchised.

Lawful Neutral- Vivienne, Cassandra, Cullen

Vivienne respects the order (Circle) and believes what's established maintains the peace.

Cassandra is tough but in the end she fights for the law and not against it. Sort of like the cop who has no problem using brute force to stop crime.

Cullen is all about the the Templars and structured order from rebellion and that which can be dangerous and untrustworthy.

True Neutral- Solas, Cole, Varric

Solas doesn't seem to care about good or evil, more fascinated with what he can learn from the experience.

Cole is a spirit who has murdered. He's not necessarily good or evil but just simply 'is'.

Varric is quite willing to bend the laws and work with the underground. He also wasn't above extortition and self service in DA2. Hes just nice about it.

Chaotic Neutral- Iron Bull, Dorian

Iron Bull enjoys violence and wild drunken parties. Qun or not, his nature seems to be amoral. Whatever allows him to fight or buy his next pint he seems willing to do.

Dorian seems to go against the grain with Tevinter society, but isn't averse to dark magic that could harm others or potentially be extremely dangerous. He also probably wouldn't be afraid to use his status and nobility for his own benefit.
*- may also possibly be Chaotic Good

I very much agree with this... especially given Cullen's earlier support for the Right of Annulment in both circles.

Hardest character to place imo is Leliana. IMO she is dancing on the border of neutral good and chaotic good but certainly not lawful.

I think Blackwall is Lawful Neutral rather than Lawful Good.

Lawful Good would have white knighted it to Ferelden. Blackwall was prepared to sacrifice Ferelden for the greater good.

Going by her character profile, Cassandra will choose what she believes is right and just over laws and duties. So she will go against the law if she doesn't believe it is the right thing to do. She's not really Lawful even if she behave that way most of the time.

To say that Cole is less good because he's murdered is strange considering every character we play as is a murderer. With 4 confirmed kills, Cole has a significantly lower body count than anybody who isn't the Inquisitor(if you headcanon that before Inq, they weren't much of a killer) or Vivienne.

He's devoted his life to helping others at this point. He's.. trying to be good, I'd say.

Back on topic, Josephine is definitely a Lawful Good. She enjoys working within legal constraints to reach peaceful compromises. That's damn near the definition.

My bet: People are going to be disappointed if they think Blackwall is Lawful Good. They must've believed Wynne's children's stories.

Cole seems somewhat chaotic to me. And I think Dorian's leaning towards neutral, if not good.

This.

He isn't some wide-eyed recruit like Alistair, pumped up on romanticized tales of the Wardens. He's been a Warden for years and is a senior member of the order. And the order itself is very much on the Neutral spectrum. The Grey Wardens are all about victory over the darkspawn, by any means necessary. They live by the philosophy of the ends justifying the means. That philosophy would clash with someone who is Lawful Good.

Seriously, he's a part of "Team Vulgar". :D
lol

(EDIT: Also I know being vulgar has nothing to do with being Lawful or Good or what not. >.> Just being silly; sick+Nyquil=Half-assed jokes)

I think you're all forgetting he left The Wardens to go and basically be a hero, right?

He threw away his pendant. He's a Grey Warden in blood only. He's more akin to Alistair than you all seem to think, based on his info.

-Both seem to strive for a greater good

-Both left the Wardens when stuff they didn't like went down

That's.. it but there shall be more!

Well, we don't know if that's the reason he supposedly left.

He could have left because of certain spoilerific things going on with the Wardens too, that you don't really need to be a lawful good sort of person to disapprove of...

I have never ban a fan of alignments.

Though if I wanted to do anything from an rpg. I would try coming up with fate aspects for each of the companions that you have for the FATE system.

I've always liked the chaotic/lawful angle.. It's something lacking in a lot of RPGs. They're all going to display morality one way or another (even if it's not so overt), but D&D at least tries to differentiate more.

Think the Elder One would be more Chaotic Evil? Or Lawful Evil?

Leaning more towards Chaotic.

Bah, I hate alignments. People can't be categorized so easily.
