Ok so DAI is close at hand! Some of you are planning to play as a Qunari first! I thought it would be nice to have a thread to help give some cool names that we could all use. If you already have a qunari name picked out please share! 

 

Here are a few that I put together! Enjoy! (qunlat words used from the DA wiki)

 

  Herah-Time  +  Ebasit-  A form of "to be."  +   Saar: "Dangerous,"  = Herah Ebasit Saar - Time to be Dangerous

 

 Ash- To seek + Aqun-  Balance = Ashaqun- "To seek Balance"

 

Taashath: Calm + Meraad- The tide = Taashath Meraad - "Calm the tide"

 

Tal- "True," + Shok- "War" or "struggle" = Tal-Shok -True War or struggle.

 

 Ash- To seek  +  Sataareth- "That which upholds" + Aqun-  Balance = Ash sataareth aqun - To seek that which upholds balance.

 

 Ebasit- A form of "to be." + Sataareth-  "That which upholds" + Aqun-  Balance- Ebasit sataareth aqun= To be that which upholds balance.

If the game has a random name generator that allows for cool and coherent Qunari names, I'll take it.

I have a male and female Adaar planned out.

 

Kvothe Adaar: Kvothe isn't qunlat, but it sounds sufficiently Qunari to me  

 

Kas Adaar: Kas is actually Qunlat, its unknown however :/ but its possible it means "weapon"

Hum..I saw one in the thread 'Can we have more Female Inquisitor' but it is so many pages back.....and I don't remember it  should've wrote it down . 

 

But yeah , my 1st Playtrough will be a Lady Qunari Amazon princess Mage who gonna smooche Sera ! and I'm gonna call her 'Horny Adaar' .

I'm starting to think I'm actually not going to choose a Qunlat name. The way I'll play her, she'd want to distance herself from anything related to the Qun as much as she can. Not sure what the surname will be there for, though. 

 

I'll think of something eventually. Something kind of random or completely un-Qunari sounding, like Tennant and Jarvy in DA:O.

I'll probably go with Maraas for my male Qunari, which accroding to this means nothing/alone.

 

While for my female Qunari I'll use Altani which isn't qunlat, just a name I like.

Kas: Meaning unknown, but possibly "weapon", as it is found in the names several weapons of varying classes.

 

Adaar- A ship-mounted cannon, literally "fire thrower".

well this is an interesting thread. While Qunari are not my first choice of character, human rogue then dalish mage. I am interested in them. So thanks for making this thread as I can use it as an idea bank. Since my normal method of chosing a name from my gigantic resource database on medieval names likely doesn't work so well in regards to the qunari.

• Saar: "Dangerous,"  + Asaaranda: - Thunderstorm = Saar Asaaranda- Dangerous Thunderstorm ( a good name for a mage imo)

I used and looked it up in Sith Language and it end up as Nu'dzwole (and thanx the community it just become nude) LOL

qunari name themselves after their role, that one mercenary qunari in 2 even named himself something that mean mercenary or something like it. so just think of what your qunari is gonna do and then pick the qunari word for it. your Ashaqun seems like a good choice, assuming you conjugated the words correctly, i'm not sure how qunari grammer works.

Well the Qunari that the inquistor is a part of is not even a member of the qun, so it might make sense for them to have more individual names.

Talibas- "True thing" "True non Qunari"

Kostma/Makostra- No peace

 

or if you want to sound dangerous...

Serakata- "Dangerous death" or Serakatara "your dangerous death"

Serakas/Serakasra- "Dangerous Weapon"

TalSera- "dangerous Truth"
