I've been wondering about this too... we have it anyway so the boyfriend can putz around in the sports games every now and then but we haven't tried any early access stuff. This might be a dumb question but... does anyone know if you have to buy the digital copy? Like, if I'm getting a disk would we still be able to play the early access?

OF course. You don't have to own DAI at all.

Awesome, thank you. I just wasn't sure if it was "only with purchase" or something like that.

Lots of people are confusing this with a "demo" it is the full copy of the game complete with achievements and all features associated unlocked for 6 hours.  This is the precedent established by the previous EAA early access games.  The person that stated its a paid beta is completely wrong it is the launch game not a early build.  EA has stated that the early access will be different depending on the game, so for like battlefield it could be unlimited access to a MP mode, in sports games its 6 hours of the entire game, and we have yet to see what they do with RPGs and the like.

The only precedent is for sports games, DAI's early acess is likely to be completely different.

agreed most likely DAMP access maybe 6 hours like the rest just pointing out that the Download is the retail copy not a beta as some were implying.

I'm hoping it's a narrative cutoff rather than a timer. I'd hate to feel rushed. There are people who will spend six hours in CC alone.

Hate to admit it but I'm one of those people

Ea Access can be one of several different modes of early access. We don't know which one DAI will be yet.

i wish DAI would get Early access before release of game for all platforms since people who have Origin version of DAI have early download access on Nov. 14th so PC players can start downloading the game 3 days before it is released.

I hope it is the full game and not just MP. I plan to play the heck out of the MP, but I don't want to pay $5 for anything other than the singleplayer game. :/

Paid demo-versions. How did we come to this?

Hmm...I could see this game getting passed over for EA Access...because if it isn't then there will be a huge flood of spoilers, and I don't think anyone (not even EA) wants that.

The EA website specifically mentions DAI as being a part of the service. If you don't want spoilers I'd go on a full black out.

why do people keep saying its a paid demo? Its beyond me it is the full game you unlock achievements just as you would if you purchased the game....

Also this game is guaranteed to be added to EAA as will every EA game this includes the 10% discount on all digital aspects of the game as well

I agree. It's not a paid demo. It probably feels that way when people say they'll pay $5 just for this, but that's not really what the service is.

depending on the digital release window 12:01 or 3:01 EST I'm going to use the hours differently if I have to wait till 3 I'll save a few hours if not I'll play the whole thing.

I remember reading some where that it was only 2 hours not 6. I can't actually remember where though...

"edit" hi jacked this from gamefaqs

On Major Nelson's blog, there is some additional detail that suggests how this might be implement for games like Dragon Age: Inqusition. "Starting 5 days before release, you’ll be able to try the game for at least two hours and then save your progress," he writes. "Once you purchase the digital or physical copy, you can use your save game and continue the experience."

First, it's probably better to use the original article, rather than a gamefaqs forum post about said article...

Second, it says "at least"(though, it should also be said that there is no link to the specific Major Nelson blog post anywhere).  Now, It could be as low as 2 hours... But I'm betting that, if EA makes the time to try out DAI significantly shorter than all the sports games, they'll probably have one of the Bioware devs disclose the reasoning behind the move.  Because the only real reason to do such a thing would be because one can get to a significant point in the game in that period of time, and possibly(intentionally) spoil things for people...

If I participate in the early access I won't reach full nerd mass reaction when I launch the game. Thoughts of the cutoff point or the time will plague my thoughts. But resistance is futile...I will succumb in the end....
