I just received a message from derek french who is an employee at bioware. He confirmed that DAI will have two discs on 360. The first disc is a mandatory install. 8gb approx. The second disc is the play disc. Today mr french informed me that the play disc can be installed to the hard drive. So anyone who was worried about overheating or hardware problems and wanting to avoid the game... fear not... u can install the play disc. So a big thank u to mr french for informing us and taking the time out his busy schedule to address this issue... thank u.

I heard about the two discs, one being an install.  I am glad the play disc can also be installed.  Hopefully that helps with load times.  Thanks Madwhiteham, I remember your original thread...

I would highly recommend installing the second disc as well. If you don't have space, make space for it. It'll be worth it.

Can it be installed to a flash drive as well?
I would definitely buy a hard drive just for DAI but just wondering if I can just use my flash drive

In my experience, so far, the wear and tear on the system when playing from disc isn't actually any more dangerous than the wear and tear on your Xbox 360 hard drive from playing from the install. While the disc drive will gradually wear down from use, a worn hard drive will tend to catastrophically fail in a sudden way (the consequences of which are far more severe, as I can attest having permanently lost all of my Dragon Age, Mass Effect and everything else saves going back many years.)

It can definitely improve load times, but it shouldn't be an overheating issue (if it is, the disc isn't the problem.)

If you want to look after your Xbox 360 hard drive:

- Only install what you need. Delete unused games (your save files are unaffected unless you specifically go into the folder and delete them.)

- Try not to exceed 50% hard drive capacity. It might seem like an extreme piece of advice, but it is literally at 50% that your hard drive's efficiency begins to be effected by storage capacity and fragmentation. The more efficient your hard drive's stored information is, the less work it has to do when reading from the drive, and the less wear-and-tear over time.

- Delete corrupted files immediately upon discovering them.

The 360 suffers form a known issue arising from its proprietary filing system called "cascading hard drive failure." This is when a corrupted file ultimately results in all the information on the hard drive becoming corrupted (and is what happened to me.) The above advice dramatically reduces the risk of this issue. I was consistently running at about 80-90% Drive capacity, and exclusively playing from installs, which the Microsoft employee who I took the drive to confessed were the two primary causes of the issue.

Why is there a size difference?

PC installs is set at 26 GB and xbox 360 at 16 GB.

What is the extra 10 GB for?

This is pretty much what GTA V did. Not sure if there were other games that did anything similar. This is good to hear. There won't be any need to constantly switch discs.

Or roughly 4 TB spread across several drives. *Cough*

But yeah, I imagine the extra 10 GB of space is partly for textures and different visual effects resources, since the 360 is running on lower graphics. Might also have somewhat different compression due to the platform in addition. What's the install size for the Xbox One or PS4? That might be a better comparison to a PC's install requirements.

Higher quality assets? The PC version isn't based on the last gen console version.

How will it be worth it? I rarely install games, does it make a difference if one, both, or none are installed?

Well, if you install none of the discs, you can't play the game.  You have to install the install disc.

As for installing the play disc, it's debatable.  It lowers the strain on the disc drive, but it increases the strain on the hard drive.  Installing the play disc could also, theoretically, lower load times as well.  But until we get the game, it can't be said for certain the benefits of installing the play disc versus not installing it.

Can you ask him if the graphics look nice on ps3 and xbox 360? This game looks gorgeous but it's a little bit cartoony so i think the models wont look that bad on last gen consoles i mean look at gta 5 it looks great so i hope it looks similar..

This game will be the first thing I play on xbox 360 so I have no idea what this means, but I'm happy anyway.

I always install every game I play on the hard drive because the disc drive makes an ungodly amount of noise.

Except they didn't!!! I cannot install the 2nd disc (play disc) on my Xbox 360 despite having plenty of space.
It would be great if we could get some feedback on why this is happening??
