I'd actually be happy if we were only able to use the original avatars from the old BSN, but I'm just crazy like that.

Why can't we? Just find the image, right?

I rarely change until I feel like changing to have fun seeing others try to guess who is the avatar :)

I used to change mine more, back when we could use animated avatars, but ever since they canned that feature, the urge to make new ones has never been as strong.

I switch the general theme every month or so.

I went with Knight Templar for now.

Going by the general color scheme that may be a Teutonic Knight instead of a Templar.

Why can't we? Just find the image, right?

That involves work. I preferred the old little window with all of the preset avatars.

Good times. Doing that felt like being in an elite club. I remember the OG Messiah, KotorEffect3, being mad at anyone who had a custom avatar.

Where is that assclown, anyway? Have you seen him around?

Don't say canned. It was an "improvement" remember?

Not lately. He's lurked on my profile a few times in the last few months but I'm not even sure if he's active on these forums. Then again, I stay in Off-Topic these days and I might've missed him.

It boggled me, and still boggles me that the only Forum I know of that allowed Animated Avatars trashed it along with quite a few other pieces. I'm guessing the justification was either "They're too distracting", or it's a space issue. There wasn't a limit to the amount you could add, and if it was 1-2 Megs per avatar per user, that could add up quick.

Pure Speculation, mind you. At least adding one in isn't a pain in the butt anymore.

But they can't move! WHY CAN'T THEY MOVE!?

Sure they can. Just profiles, though. You'd have to take a GIF, view extensions in the viewing folder, change it to a .png, and then upload it. Let's see, other avatars.... Sometimes I'll pop in the Emperor Arcana, it's a neat design. The Judgement armor and Tyrael Avvy are in unused territory, though.

But they can't move! WHY CAN'T THEY MOVE!?

Because they were toxifying the rest of the forums along with groups, image albums, the project section, a functional feed, and working profile comments. It was all distracting from important discussions like "Proof of Indoctrination Theory!!!", "What does Tali's sweat taste like?" and "You are all bad privileged people who should feel bad."

Ok-- that does it. I'm throwing down the gauntlet! No more talk! No more nostalgia. You guys get out there & get into some trouble, in ye olde BSN style!
Crazy threads, nonsense posts & snarky replies!
You heard me privates!! Go! GO! GO!!

About why I pick my avatars...

I generally just pick my favorite anime/manga/video game/other animated girls.

You know me.

Avis for everything under the sun except for the thing directly referenced in my name.

As for when I change it? Whenever I feel like it.

@OWA: I change it occasionally. That self-portrait was boring me.
@Dermain: I had an Atari 2600 as a child. Ah... Good times
:)
