But I am also kinda serious and have a lack of appreciation for silly humor, but I kinda also like it. He's anti-Circle but not anti-Chantry or anti-Templar. Both have their uses and Templars are non-mages best defense against blood/rogue mages.

To win him over, you would have to show yourself to be practical, but still be willing do what is right even if it meant doing impractical things or going out of your way to make sure that the right thing is done.
