Have we seen any hints that say where/when the next mass effect game will be set? As for the time span, I think it'll happen alongside Shepard's trilogy, as separate quotes from the devs seem to have discounted a sequel/prequel but the talk of returning races seems to imply that it'll still be set in the 'Milky Way' galaxy.
By the way, I'd really like a 'side-quel' game/trilogy set in the same galaxy as we could see cameos from Shepard/his crew and see the aftermath of his adventures on all the different planets (Or influence the situation that Shepard finds them in).
Lastly, I've noticed that there's a 2 year (game-time) gap between ME1 and ME2, what better place to start a 'Side-quel' than there?
