Sounds like a lot of people I encountered in jr. high and high school. Also, isn't she a noble?

A young and sheltered romantic with no real concept of reality? Sounds a lot like the people I knew in jr. high and high school.

You encountered a lot of people who openly professed love for the voices in their head? Because, that doesn't exactly speak in favor of their sanity.

I knew people who openly professed love for fictional characters and individuals they had never even met, which is actually less than what this girl can say, given that this is a world where magic and magical events like the one she witnessed are very real.

Yes, they are immature, regardless of their age. Nothing to do with sanity, just your hopeless romantic teenager.

Also its Thedas, a magical world. Its not a voice in her head, its a quite clear vision she received and Feynriel made himself known to her in the fade and spoke with her. Its not a voice, its as real as real gets in Thedas.

I take it that they did this, after having awoken to a scene of absolute carnage, death and destruction, which they promptly chose to completely ignore, because they were too busy professing their love?

Hearing voices gets people magically stripped of the Fade, but it's totes normal and not a thing to worry about, because magic.

A scene of carnage and death inflicted upon a group of people who were going to take turns raping her, yes.

This strawman is beneath you.

I sent Feynriel to Tervinter. I'm not sure that this was the best choice, but I think that if he were able to harness his abilities, they might be used to better understand The Fade. With a better understanding of The Fade, it is possible that any lingering Mage / Templar relationship could be less tense, being that all parties have a better understanding of what is going on and how to deal with it. If there is that better understanding, then there should be fewer instances of rampant paranoia leading to the threats of Annulment or Tranquility.

All that said, I know that the scope of impact of a choice made in a previous game -- especially one left so wide-open -- is likely to be small, but hypothetically speaking, that was a big factor in my reasoning.

That's not a strawman. That's exactly what you just said.

No matter how "hopeless romantic" you are, you would NOT ignore such a scene. So just drop it, and admit that her behavior is NOT normal. Because this strawgrasping is..... Losing its charm.

If you consider a blasé or jovial reaction to death and violence an exceptional case of insanity, in Dragon Age... I have bad news for you.

From a teenage girl? And it is not just jovial response. It is the complete and utter lack of response, which is the alarm trigger.

And on a sidenote: Normal characters DO actually react to the violence and carnage around them. The PCs and party members don't, for obvious reasons.

She didn't lack a response though, she was happy and grateful, hence her infatuation with Feynriel.

"Normal" implying beyond simply not being the PC or the PC's companions, yes?

They actually can and do quite often. And it's often rather disturbing if we were to be realistic.

Literally - it isn't.

That post is saying this girl would technically have a better claim to sanity than those hordes of teenagers, given the existence and function of magic within Thedas. Saying that she was speaking to "voices in her head" is being completely intellectually dishonest, because the protagonist (and the player) is well-aware of the phenomenon that occurred, and the person who instigated it.

That doesn't make her more sane for believing that it's a benevolent force and someone she should be in love with. It's so much less sane because everyone knows that even the most benign voice in your head can be the most powerful demon. So yea, I stand by what I said earlier.

Does that make her insane while, say, the Inquisitor and Andraste are not? Edit: Heck, or even the Warden and all the entities at the Temple of Sacred Ashes.

Actually, no they don't.

You mean the Chantry hasn't been chanting for the past 900 years, "Magic bad because demons."? Fancy that. I think there's a few mage-hunting mobs who would like to speak to you....

Correct, what they haven't been chanting is the scientific nature of the Fade, the Veil, and how Demons and Spirits operate. Even the people who are supposed to know the most about this can't always tell if voices in their heads could be demons.

Humans dream, and they all go to the Fade when they do this, so pretty much everyone hears voices in their heads, and often. Of course, this is a subject that the vast majority of people no frighteningly little about, so you don't see hear them talking about how they might have talked to the "most powerful demon".

Heard it here first folks. If you ever find yourself waking up to a scene of death and carnage, blood and gore all around you, narrowly having escaped a rape; then not evena  little freakout is necessary! Quickly frolicking off, in search of your beloved (which you've literally just heard, for the first time in your head, a few minutes ago), is ALL the response you need! This is a commonly accepted social response to extreme emotional duress!

....

.....

......

Honestly. Those that try to pass that off as perfectly reasonable response to the situation, have no grasp, whatsoever, on the human psyche.

Which is also why no one has done that. Yet you have been a strong proponent that her reactions is in fact perfectly reasonable. While the rest of us, have tried to point out to you how it, in multitudes of ways, in fact AREN'T a healthy response to the situation.

Ok, so she's a little bat*expletive* crazy. What is your point exactly? Are you trying to say that Feynriel is responsible for her being nuts?

$100 bison dollars to whoever can even cite a post in this topic where I described her reaction as logical, reasonable, healthy, whatever. I've been refuting the assertion that the girl in question can be judged clinically insane, and you've chosen to make an argument based on the idea that I deemed her perfectly logical... when this literally never happened at any point.
