Are you a fan of DAI's Soundtrack (Trevor Morris)? Or did you prefer DAO/2 (Inon Zur) Soundtrack more?

the problem with DAI:s music is that it isn't captivating and unlike DAO and DA2 soundtrack it just felt like I was listening to a present time music.

i prefer the DAO/ DA2 soundtrack, it brings sort of medieval combination with thrilling sound which added to the games charm. For example when you were in the temple of sacred ashes it was a church psalm in the background which was fantastic.

Yep. DAI's soundtrack just isn't interesting. In many ways, I believe BioWare's issue to address a proper theme and sound for Dragon Age also represents their struggle of knowing what Dragon Age's identity actually is.

I found DA:I's soundtrack much better than previous titles. It's one of the few areas of DA:I that I thought was far superior to DA:O. it also I think, had a more medieval sound than DA:O's music. Not necessarily in the main soundtrack, though I don't think the main soundtrack for DA:O or DA2 sounded medieval either.
A couple examples of songs written in the middle ages:
Tourdion composed for the Burgundian Court
None of the DA games have a soundtrack that sounds remotely similar. They all use modern sounding music in the game's soundtrack. The closest any game comes to getting old timey with the music is DA:I, with the introduction of the bard singing in taverns.

When I'm playing the game, I don't much listen to the music, but I do enjoy listening to it as a soundtrack when I'm doing other things like driving or writing... and for that, Trevor Morris's DAI soundtrack is vastly superior. But even in game... I greatly prefer the DAI tavern music.
This is Origins music. It's basically yodeling.

This is Inquisition tavern music. Genuinely medieval or not, it sounds like something you'd actually hear in a tavern.

You know what I find ironic about this statement? Trevor Morris did not write or compose the tavern music in DAI. On the contrary, Inon Zur actually did help write and compose the tavern music in DAI. The only thing Trevor Morris did was the unappealing and blaring main soundtrack that so many seem to love. So, you may want to reassess and get your facts right as you actually seem to prefer Zur's music to Morris'.
You don't have to take my word for it though. Just read this article where BioWare/EA was giving away the tavern music for free: http://www.gamespot....g/1100-6424897/

Really? Hear some minor music like the Elven Alienage music.I listen to music at work, primarily, as background music while performing routine experiments that don't require a lot of concentration. DAO and DA2 both had about 2 songs apiece that I still enjoy listening to on their own without the game playing... and the rest, no. They suited the game, yes, but then that woman starts yodeling, and I have to shut it off. The DAI soundtrack, however, is great background music for my day *and* it has a few tracks that I like to listen to all by themselves.
So while I like both the DAO and DA2 soundtracks while playing DAO or DA2, when it comes to listening to it on its own, DAI wins.

Oh, I have DAO and DA2 soundtracks on my mp3 player, so I've heard them. I'm not particularly fond of the elven alienage music, actually. Too much bassoon. It works for some, obviously, but I don't care for it.
I'm also aware that the tavern music was composed by Raney Shockne and voiced by Elizaveta Khripounova. (shrugs) I still prefer the DAI soundtrack as a whole to that of DAO or DA2. It's a more orchestral style, and it sounds more cohesive to me. Inon Zur is too fond of dissonant vocal effects (female vocalists in the Haven tracks make the Temple of Sacred Ashes sound like it's inhabited by angry bees) and foley effects (tire screeches in the end-of-combat stingers, zipper sounds, etc.). And the combat music in DAO is horrible.
This is what plays when you fight the High Dragon in DAO:

In DAO, you have lots of yodeling, but nothing you could call a melody, whereas DAI's combat music is actually something I'd listen to voluntarily, even if I'm not playing the game at the time.
Taste is a personal thing, so there's nothing wrong with preferring DAO to DAI. I just find that I get more enjoyment from listening to the DAI soundtrack than I do from listening to the DAO soundtrack. As a whole. In DAO, there are one or two outstanding tracks like the Ostagar theme or the instrumental version of Leliana's song (I dislike the one with vocals), but the rest of the soundtrack is pretty much just atmospheric background that I wouldn't listen to unless I was actually playing the game. By comparison, I'll listen to the whole DAI soundtrack without skipping anything.

For my personal tastes, I preferred Inon Zur work better. DAI's soundtrack is good, but not as evocative as DAO's, who is much more instrumental, Morris is...a little too cold for my tastes. I loved hearing a music and identify instantly to what it was referring to, like Orzamarr.

I liked some of the tavern songs but overall I found Inon Zur more memorable. Outside of a couple tavern songs, I can't remember any of DAIs music though I remember quite a few songs from Oigins and DA2. And I played DAI more recently and for more hours...
And Zur created some of this tavern songs lol

DA:O and DA2's soundtracks were completely forgettable, in my opinion. They had the weakest soundtracks of any Bioware game. In contrast I thought DA:I's soundtrack was one of Bioware's best. My only complaint is that Bioware chose not to play it that often. You spend most of the game tromping around in the wilderness listening to birds chirping instead of hearing the game's fantastic soundtrack.

I much prefer DA:O's music to DA:I's. Other than the blaring music that plays when you find Skyhold, I can't remember any of the other arrangements in DA:I.

I agree. Origins has some gems, but going through the entirety of the albums on iPod, DA:I's is easily the most appealing to me, especially the main theme. I was totally sold on it when they had the live performance of it at E3.DA:O and DA2's soundtracks were completely forgettable, in my opinion. They had the weakest soundtracks of any Bioware game. They certainly aren't on par with the ME series ones and much less something else like Halo 1/2/3

Yeah. While I like the music in DAI, and see it as the best of the DAI OSTs, the Mass Effect series has the best OSTs in Bioware games.
As for the Halo franchise, there are few series that can compete with them when it comes to soundtracks.

I haven't taken the time to listen to Halo and Halo 2's OST's, but I thought that 3's soundtrack was really weak and was a chore to listen through in parts. At times, it felt like a cheaper version of a Steve Jablonsky score. I'd rank both DA:I's and ME2/3's soundtracks way above that one.
