A big issue this year is games that people feel are overhyped. You'll see people use this term for Titanfall, Watch Dogs and Destiny. One common thread I see among these type of fans is that they are the type who listened to every interview, read every article, played the beta and was generally aware of the advertising hype. I'm assuming there are people who are reading this that have been discussing this game since before this site was a site. For those type of people, what do you expect the game to be at this point? Do you feel that Bioware can deliver on your expectations? I know this is a purely speculative thread about subjective opinions, but I will admit that the effects of large advertising budgets interests me.

At this point, how confident are you that DA:I will live up to your every expectation.

(P.S, I'm not saying companies are blameless. There has been a lot of promising that hasn't come true lately.)

One thing I can expect to be great is how the characters are written. If BioWare are masters in any one thing, it's making and developing fantastic characters. I'm not going into the game expecting to be blown anyway by the story, but as long as the combat is fun and the characters are fun, I'm sure I'll enjoy a ton.

Yes and no.  On the one hand I am pretty hyped for this game and think it looks like one of the next best things to sliced bread and am really looking forward to it.  But on the other hand I think this is coupled with a small dash of realism holding me back.  Will it live up to my 'hype'...probably not...will it live up to the realistic expectations I am creating for the game?  I think it can.  If this makes any sense because I am not sure it does to me.  Though part of this is too that there are a few things that BW has told us about that I do not like/ am uncertain about that I know will be in the game, and am thus tempering my hype with that.  And I am still perhaps a little worried that this game will be more Skyrim then ME or DA.

In short, I am really excited, but there is enough 'negative' news that I think I won't be too dissapointed if the game does not fully live up to the hype.

I should hope so, since my expectations are pretty low... I just need it to be better than DA2, which IMO was slightly above average.

I tend not to be dissapointed by bioware games, I actually like dragon age 2, and in some ways better then origins!

I am, bizarrely, pretty much immune to hype deflation.

I was super super hyped for Watch Dogs. It turned out being a good game, i feel, but nowhere near as "epic" as I was expecting. However, this never bothered me, because I enjoyed the experience.

ME3 was pretty hyped. I was (in that nuclear aftermath) a staunch supporter, and I still consider myself to be, but I find it hard to replay. That's got nothing to do with hype though and more to do with the unaccustomed linearity of the main plot.

So even if the game doesn't live up to "hype" (and I really don't have much for the game, even though I think it will be very good), that won't really affect my enjoyment.

I'm expecting to enjoy it.

Even with the games I've had problems with like DA2 or ME3, BioWare has never failed at that for me so far.

I've already had my hype severely deflated so at thsi point I'm just hoping it's better than DA2. Which isn't a massive feat. *shrug*

My expectations are not unfair.

With all the people moaning about assigning attributes which i consider a tiny insignificant part, I think a lot of people will be dissapointed for reasons I can't comprehend.

I just want good combat, story, choices and companions. Right now, it seems to be having that.

I feel the same. I love every and each Bioware game I've played and it would take a lot for me to be disappointed in DAI. The characters, the design, the vistas, the story (or what little we know of it)... Everything seems very promising.

I believe that it will be as great as any other Bioware game, Dragon Age Origins was the 1st time I played anything like it and has been one of my favorites ever since.

DAI will be just as great they've had the time to create something wonderful so just this once ill stay on the hype train

I suppose that depends on who you talk to? Titanfall is an amazing game. It seamlessly merges a first person shooter with mech combat. Any fan of both would instantly love the game, as long as you realized what you were buying. I thought Watch_Dogs was incredible also. It was disappointing that the PC version suffered because of last gen consoles, but thankfully mods allowed us to recover its E3-quality visuals to restore it to its original glory. I wasn't expecting much from Destiny personally, even though I'm a long-time Halo fan. It came across as a generic MMO with a shooter mechanic thrown on top.

As far as hype for Inquisition? That's not really possible to do as BioWare has disappointed us so much with Dragon Age in the past. DAI sounds promising, but I wouldn't necessarily say its a game changer. It's nice to be the leader of our own organization and explore a much larger world, but these features aren't actually new to RPGs or games in general. I'm certainly looking forward to DAI, but I'm not on a "fanboy" level expecting it to be the greatest game ever made. DAI will need to sell and not only be a financial success, but a critically-acclaimed game that will put Dragon Age back on the path to being a top notch AAA fantasy RPG.

I'm generally easy to please, even if there are nitpicks or things not to my preference. As long as I'm not constantly dying and combat doesn't feel more like a chore than fun, the characters get me invested and the story's at least somewhat engaging (good characters can carry a "meh" story pretty far for me), I'll be happy. I've yet to be totally disappointed by a game I was hyped for. The one closest to it was ME3 thanks to the ending and the journal frustration, but even then... I found the Extended Cut acceptable and I loved the DLC, so I still love the game despite its faults. I don't expect Inquisition to be perfect, or even without its moments of annoyance for me, but I have very, very little doubt that I'll love it as much as I expect to.

This is coming from someone who likes DA2 and Fable 3, so... Easy to please or no taste, feel free to call it however you prefer to see it. I've played bad games I've put down, but they've never been ones I've followed closely and gotten hyped up for.

Before the summer, I was hyped like crazy, but since then its been disappointing news after disappointing news. Almost everything having stupid decisions that hardly make sense. Even some of the reasons I find questionable

Anyways, at this point, I am just hoping its better than DA2. By the looks of it, it should be since DA2's bar is extremely low.

My hype train is unstoppable. Yet it also retains the expectation that it will have the frustrating flaws that every Bioware game I've ever played has had.

Dragon Age Origins got me back in to video games. I'm hooked foreva.

My dai hype train has long since picked up speed detailed, and launched into orbit. I am stupidly excited for this game, and while i have hitched about several design decisions, i can't imagine what would make me hate this game, because this are my only options right now :P fanboy over it, or burn my PC lol

I was super confident and had unbelievably high expectations/hype for DA:I up until a couple of months ago. Basically everything that diminished my hype had to do with in game changes, combat-related things mostly.

While I adore BioWare games for their immersive stories and settings, a game doesn't mean anything to me if the gameplay isn't any good. Which I'm not saying it won't be, but there has been a considerable amount of feedback showing that people are very distraught with the new changes. With good reason, I might add.

I've been following the game since 2012 and up until the announcement of 8 ability slots, I thought the game was doing everything right. Perfect design decisions, everyone was loving every announcement.

If I may be perfectly honest, it's been a downward spiral since the first limitation was revealed; 8 ability slots limit in combat. It starts with massive changes to combat and character progression; such as the 8 ability limitations, no basic healing spell, and no manual attribute distribution upon leveling. Then some more minor things: like not being able to change out of ridiculous looking casual clothes, clunky animations, or out of place music sequences.

I'd say the biggest things that hinder my hype are all the reveals of restrictions and lack of choice/flexibility. We are given a lot of it through crafting, Skyhold customization, and multiple race choices; but a lot of it has also been taken away.

On a scale of 1-10 in terms of how hyped I am, a couple of months ago I was a full 10. Now I'm a 4. Maybe it's for the best, that way it's harder to be disappointed with the final product.

I am extremely hyped about the game but I admit that it may not meet all my expectations.  I still think it will be a bloody brilliant game and it could just as easily exceed my expectations.  Time will tell I suppose.

I try not to be too optimistic with Dragon Age games, from past experience I have been disappointed especially with DA2. I am excited for this game, but I can't help that feeling :P. Hopefully this game will not disappoint me.

The two replies pretty much cover how i feel about Inquisition. The only thing that could disappoint me really about it would be if some weird fault happened to the disc and it won't play and i retrace my steps back to gamestop and find that they have no more copies and i'm forced to wait for their next shipment .... or something to that effect.... please maker do not let hat happen as i will have a nervous breakdown.
