Hey, Guys, Hate to break it up to you. But I'm loving the show so far.
Though I've only watched three episodes of S1 so far. It portrays the other side of Marvel's world. I've always admired a world that doesn't focus on only one specif set of stuff. A fictional world that is diverse and feels real in its own eyes. For Marvel, It was superheroes. Giants as Coulson described them. With Guardians and Agents of SHIELD, Marvel is expanding to create a fully set fictional world with brilliant continuity. That's why i don't like the idea of Marvel stopping any time soon.

The Coulson thing is one reason why I cannot take that show seriously. They just should've made the first episode or two about honoring his memory. The ressurection of his character not only makes the show seem ridiculous, but goes on to trivialize the first Avengers film. If Coulson is in Age of Ultron, I might walk out of the theater...
But..., but

The last two films sound pretty overwhelming for people who haven't seen the previous films.
The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spiderman, Captian Marvel, The Inhumans, Black Panther, Shield, The Entire Galactic Fleet and Dr Strange all fighting Thanos, Ultron, Hydra and Loki.
No wonder the last film is two films...

Just out of interest - how far have you come with AoS? Meaning what do you know about the actual reasons for Coulson being back, and how and why the resurrection and everything around it fit into and expand the MCU? Because while I completely agree that they didn't manage everything perfectly and that large parts of S1 weren't very good it's not like they just said "Coulson is back - deal with it". There's background

Pretty cool James Spader is playing Ultron and it's a fitting choice because he played Raymond"Red"Reddington from The Blacklist so well.

Coulson dies again in the next episode..........OOPS LOL jk. I agree though, it's a good show. Wait till you get near the end of the season though, since that's when things REALLY start to pick up and get exciting.

Not sure I would call the first season "brilliant", but I watched it with quite some delight. There were more than a few things that bothered me, but nothing that stopped me from watching it all the way through. And S2 is now my favourite DC/Marvel show currently on air.
What made the whole thing with S1 worse for folks who watched the show when it was on TV and what definitely hurt the ratings were the irregular and sometimes long breaks. After the midseason break the show returned with one or two strong episodes, then came two weeks without the show, then another good episode, then another four (!) week break. With stuff like that it's hard keeping a steady and pleased viewership.
This happened mostly due to the show's connection with the movies and certain events that had to happen simultaniously. Still it must have been possible to time these things better than they did. S2 does this better, they'll bridge the gap between midseason finale and return of the show with the 8 episode 'Agent Carter' miniseries, and otherwise keep a steady schedule for AoS.

I was just about to go watch Ep 14. It has become a bit of an addiction to me lately.
It's a really good show indeed, Coulson is a great leader, Ii saw that potential in him ever since the avengers, Was really sad to see him die. When Agents of SHIELD first came out, And I had found out that he didn't die, I was as happy as a 8-years-old on their birthday.
I happen to get over-attached to fiction. I'm interested to see how this whole Clairvoyant thing will turn out to be.

Well, I have read the consensual review of Rotten Tomatoes, It did mention that it was for hardcore fans only. But What about you? You seem like a hardcore fan, Why don't you like S1? Well, Besides the horrible scheduling.

Let's just say there's a twist concerning the Clairvoyant, but that's all I'll say about that. ![]()

I had heard that the show will include lots of twists near the end. But i happen to LOVE plot-twists. So, +1 for Agents of SHIELD. ![]()

I do like S1, otherwise I wouldn't have watched it. As for my problems, off the top of my head: I just didn't feel that the writing was always as good as it could/should have been. I initially had serious problems warming up to certain characters. I felt the tone was somewhat inconsistent at times. I thought the costume design, prop design and the effects weren't that good. And just a few other things, some dealing with specific things in episodes you're yet to watch. ^^
But all in all, as I said, Iike the show. It definitely has improved since the start, and imo it does a good job expanding the MCU on an interesting and different level compared to the movies. Towards the end of S1, and then continued in S2 things really start to get exciting. There's some character development I really, really liked, and especially in the villains department S2 takes things to a new level.
Looking forward to hearing more of your impressions and thoughts as you get further in the show! ![]()
