The straight answer is that Sony will cling desperately to that IP same with Fox and mutants. Marvel has been blowing them out the water and they have been failing. They want a piece of that pie.

Disney and what it is should just buy back all that **** imho.

I had heard about this Sinister Six thing, Still, I'm not taking this teaser seriously. Sony's statements are quite contradictory and that shows that they're trying to hide something.  Well, We'll see about that. But if they go along and created The Sinister Six movie, I can assure you, It'd be a failure. Specially after the Sony hack and the many racist e-mails that were released on the internet. And then Marvel would definitely get back Spidey's rights.

Sony laid it all in the line with the latest Spidey movie and it did not pan out. Just like Warner Brothers they wanted to create their own "universe" and failed.  Wind it back to like 2008 and Ironman Marvel wanted to make the universe but they (writers and directors) did not force it down.

Marvel made a good thing and built off of that Sony is trying to force it and "HET LOOK DOC OCT AND VULTURE STUFF"  Sony tried and failed and now they are begging to hold onto the IP.

No different then fox and the twins. Sure quicksilver was forced and was a good scene but it was all look at this slomo and how funny it is.

Disney needs to just buy this **** back for Marvel because there is nothing that shows me these other studios will do them justice.

I will stand that WB does better with their animated stuff but it is Marvel that made this insane live action comic book movies happen.

Doubtful, but I've been over that numerous times.

As for a "Sinister" Six movie...

Sony's Spiderman movies have never really been that great in general (although I heard good things about Spiderman 2). I am unfamiliar with Marvel's universe, but from a quick scan of Wikipedia the Sinister Six doesn't seem that intimidating.

From what I read, they decided to team up to fight Spiderman one at a time because they couldn't agree on who would kill him. For a group of villains (who are likely quite intelligent) that is one of the stupidest plans I've ever heard (from supposed geniuses).

Sony's already bungled Spiderman by introducing far too many villains into a single movie, and now they want to add six? How long is the movie going to be? 9 hours (assuming roughly two hours for each villain failure)?

Yes, I remember seeing the downfall of the first Sinister Six when i was a kid, It was stupid, The comics had its mistakes, But that's what the movies are all about, To analyze the comic material, Harvest the good, Get rid of the bad in a one gigantic continuity. However, Sony doesn't have that mindset, Its spiderman team don't know how to do that. That's why they keep failing. If i was in charge of the Spider-man universe, I wouldn't introduce any of them in the first movie, Instead, I would first give every one of them a tiny role in the spidey movies and then they would decide to team up. That's how you solve the over-crowding problem. But apparently, Sony is obsessed with making Oscorp in charge of everything. And it's a very, VERY stupid approach. To be honest, Sony never did get the Oscorp storyline correctly, Not even in the original Spider-Man movies. That's why the first one wasn't good, And that's one of the many reasons why the third one wasn't good. The good thing about Spider-man 2 is that it focused on Doc-Ock and his relationship with Spider-man. And they got that partly right.

Heh, Sinister six. Don't know if you guys saw the supposedly leaked script for that, but wow. If there's any credence to it, the film looks like a complete and utter mess.

Spoiler

Gotta say though, I found the first TASM to be all right, but the second stands up as one of my favourite superhero movies, warts and all. But after everything that's been revealed of late, I don't have much faith in the future of the franchise.

On the other hand, if Marvel gets the rights back and Spidey ends up just being thrown into Infinity War... I can't see that being very satisfying. At all.

So personally its just picking your poison.

Either way, the 'Spidey summit' that Sony are supposedly holding sometime before the end of the month can't come soon enough.

Introducing Spider-Man in the infinity war isn't something bad at all. I don't see what's wrong about it. And then Spidey gets to have his own adventures.

But a leaked script? Seriously? Sony is so obviously screwed. Just give it over to Marvel already!

Namely one of the few problems I have with TASM2. That they rushed a lot of stuff to try and bring the film into a shared universe. I'd rather not have that happen again.

Honestly, I'm just bitter that regardless of who takes the reigns now, Andrew Garfield's likely out of the picture. I liked him so much that I'll find it difficult to enjoy whoever comes next.

And yes, leaked script. Supposedly, and it was an early draft, but it sounded simply dreadful.

Sinister Six, Black Cat, Venom AND Carnage all introduced in one movie? What could possibly go wrong... <_<

I spared myself the agony of watching the video because of that type of stupidity. :D

As for Andrew, He's rumored and most likely to be fired because he criticized Sony for their racist remarks in their leaked E-Mails. And to be honest, He wasn't a good Spider-Man IMO. And about TASM 1, I didn't like it either, I'm a big fan of The Lizard and i didn't like how they pulled him off in the movie.

As for the shared universe, Marvel has stated that they won't do another origin story of Spider-Man where he's in his teenage years. So, They're gonna use a new approach, And i trust Marvel enough to believe that they'd do the right thing.

Yeah. I've been keeping up quite a bit with the whole situation.

I agree that TASM1 isn't up to much. I watched it again the other night, and it doesn't hold up anywhere near as well as I remembered it to. I'll stand by my stance on Garfield and TASM2 though!

As for Marvel, I probably should have a little more faith in them. They handled Guardians great just throwing the team together. And I was one of the few people who actually read (and loved) some of the Guardian's comics, so my hopes were sky high.

Because people use this thread for unrelated Marvel topics (Comics, Non-MCU movies, etc).

Not sure why.

I put alot of work into a better suited thread.

I didn't see it on the Front Page for a while and assumed it was dead. Good to know it is around!

I'd suggest updating the Thread Topic Name to keep up with current events/news to draw people in? Just a thought.

Wow. The death of an era.

So I guess the current dead Wolverine isn't going to be resurrected.

Huh.
