That is so true.

If your villain's theme song, or worse yet if they themselves are singing a beloved children's song you know some bad stuff is about to happen.

And if the IGN analysis of Thanos is correct we still have him and his Infinity Gauntlet for Avengers 3 that's rumored to be split into two parts.

All aboard the hype Plane! :D

Awesome! (Just like the trailer was!)

What I'm a little worried about for Age of Ultron and Cap 3 being Civil War is the repetition of theme.

Winter Soldier - in order to protect the world, we must LAUNCH GIANT HELICARRIERS to keep everyone safe... Oh no, it went wrong! We must fight to preserve freedom!

Age of Ultron - in order to protect the world, we must CREATE AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE to keep everyone safe... Oh no, it went wrong! We must fight to preserve freedom!

Civil War - in order to protect the world, we must INSTITUTE A SUPERHERO REGISTRATION ACT to keep everyone safe... Oh no, it went wrong! We must fight to preserve freedom!

I mean... we get it. Big Brother = bad. Is it really smart to use that message as the primary theme for three movies so close together?

MCU is gonna take Harry Potter's place as the highest-grossing film series of all time. It's gonna happen.

HARRY POTTER is the all-time box office king!?!?

I disagree.

I would never say Thor and Iron Man are the same themes, just because they are super-hero origin movies. Iron Man has a theme of redemption, while Thor is a theme of growth and sacrifice.

And I wouldn't say Ultron is Avengers 1.5 in terms of theme. Avengers was about coming to grips with a larger universe and the threat (and need for a united front) that represented.

But the theme of "we need a way to protect ourselves, this will keep us all safe... oh dear lord, who could have imagined this would go awry?" is more specific. It's a plot line and theme much more specific than the standard monomyth or Hero's Story. I'm not saying "oh look, another Marvel movie where there is a bad guy, they fight, credits roll." That is a gross simplification. But saying that the threat for the movie is created by the protagonists in an effort to create a world of safety is not a simplification. It is a rather well-defined archetype. Any more specific and you would actually have to get into specific story details.

I, Robot has a similar theme, as an example. As does V for Vendetta. It's taking the source of threat and making it the protagonists' (and the world in general) need for safety to create something that winds up being a bigger threat than what existed before. Whether that protection is in the form of an artificial intelligence, a super weapon or an authoritarian government/policy, it's the same basic theme - doing so is dangerous, results in something much worse, which the hero(s) must fight to restore things back to the way they were before.

I'm sure I will love them as movies, but having a movie come out in 2014, 2015 and 2016 with such a similar message just seems heavy handed.

From the looks of it this movie will have the same theme that Pinocchio has.

It's still a simplification, You're seeing it backwards, They didn't create it that way. As i said, Concept and Atmosphere that then shapes the plot, Not the other way around.

Exactly.

And I mean Banner will violently turn into the Hulk like the kid in Pinocchio violently turned into a donkey!

IT ALL MAKES SENSE!

Nah I think the main conflict will be people trying to fight off sleeping because of how boring that film will be.
