Been away a while from ME3 modding, and had to reinstall all my files in the interim, and it seems my tired and true Texmod process doesn't work anymore.

The Process is:

1.Copy Texmod into the ME3 win32 file, next to the MassEffect3.exe

2.MassEffect3.exe is renamed MassEffect3a.exe

3.Rename Texmod MassEffect3.exe

4.Run "Mass Effect 3" through Origin.

Trickeration!

5.Rename Texmod and Masseffect3 back to original names, select Masseffect3.exe, the original as target program.

6.Load my chosen files. (about 6 or 7, pretty basic.)

7.Run game.

Textures changed!

Now, when I do this, everything proceeds normally, the game loads correctly, even does the reassuring extended blue circle loadup before it starts, but... the textures just don't show up. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

And yes, Origin ingame is disabled.

Any help much appreciated!

Did you check if your virusscanner might be interfering with texmod functioning? That's become an issue more frequently.

There's nothing wrong with the rename process though I'd advise downloading the batch file that (almost) automates the renaming process for you.

My texmod guide includes a download link for it.

Thanks Ottemis, my virus scanner doesn't mention ME3 directly, I assume turning it off is the best way to check? Wondering if I should try ME3 Explorer, or TPFTools, but would those work for everything?

Depending on the virusscanner it could have blocked the exe or the temp files it creates when you use it. I know AVG has an option to turn it off temporarily, don't know about others but you can also try to white-list the exe.

ME3Explorer is awesome but you need tpf's in fixed format to work with it so it'll take some checking and sorting.

You'd have to take some time to read up on it, it's not complicated per say but you gotta know what you are doing.

Btw, it's possible another overlay effect is messing with your texmod functionality, for instance raptr.

By fixed format, I assume you mean in a certain order?

Need to try it without the Steam overlay, though that's never caused trouble before. Also, having trouble with the ME3 servers and my DLC, so maybe something else is going on.

I mean the textures in the tpf need to be the correct file-type.
Some modders make sure of this on release (like myself), for others you'll have to see if people converted them to work with the toolset and/or if toolset autofix will reliably fix them. The latter is obviously more involved. There is a thread on the ME3Explorer forums with fanfixes, a lot of tpf's that aren't inherently in the right format were fixed and uploaded there. For my stuff you can go via my BSN Thread (lists them all) or through the Nexus.

TPF Tools will let you know if textures are in the right format before you install them so there's little risk of this being true or untrue without you knowing about it before hand. There are a bunch of tutorials to help you along as well.

What kind of trouble, can't connect to servers at all?

Update: Success!

I went through my list of program files in the control panel, looking for any that might be running in the background that I didn't remember having before. Seeing Geforce Experience, I remembered it was on my taskbar, got rid of it, and lo and behold, it actually worked!

Thanks for your help!

Hey guys, i've been using Texmod for a while and it's been working fine.

But now, every since the updates on Origin, i'm not able to use Texmod any more, not even with the file name changes procedures.

So basically what happens is, i do the name change, run through origin, and when i try to browse the folder to select a target, the program stops responding. Left it there for a good 15 min, nothing. When i run it through steam (as i assigned my mass effect 3 as a non steam game so i could try to use texmod via there), well, the process works fine, but doesn't load the texture whatsoever. And those are textures i've tested before and they were working. Also i found that, whenever i use texmod, when i log without using it, some of my textures won't appear, i have ALWAYS to use the same process in order to see my textures in game, with the file name changes and everything. Well however, now, nothing is really working, and i find the issue is due to Origin changes, unless i'm the only one having this issue. I have already tried installing an older version of origin, but still, Texmod is doing the same thing, not responding when i try to run or browse for a target.

Any ideas what this could be?

LeonaReq, I encountered the same problem and found that when Origin updated, it re-enabled "origin in game" I disabled it again and it fixed the problem if you don't know how to disable origin in game this video is very helpful.

hopefully this works for you too  :)

Oh wow, i was trying everything even running through steam but that didn't work. I thought of it but didn't think that would help.

Thank you very much simsaholic,

That's so very useful, thanks again :D helped a lot. I'll fix it tonight <3

Well...Editing my post now, because i wanted you to know that, it worked. Thank you very much for that, now my texmod is actually functional and loading textures properly. Awesome!! :)

Hmmm, having trouble again, after being away from the game for a while. After a little while, found GeForce Experience back on my computer. Deleted it, and it worked fine again. But a couple days later, I'm back to square one, and the game won't load, even though GeEx is still deleted. What else could be interfering?

Edit: I recently got the 2016 version of my virus scanner, thought that might be the issue, but turning off active protection doesn't seem to help.
