I don't see what's wrong with his body. He's a friggin Qunari...

The Arishok from DA2 looked better proportionate, more aesthetically pleasing, and was a badass Qunari.

I've heard about it, but I played all the ME games with the german VO. Inquisition is the first Bioware game I'll play in english. That also puts me in this funny situation where the german voice for Hawke was Zevran's german voice from DA:O and my first male Inquisitor's voiceactor will be the one who did Zevran's english voice in the previous games.

Meh...To be perfectly honest, the more I see of Iron Bull, the less I care for him and his shrunken head and totally unconvincing voice.

I can see what the character writer was going for, giving him a very contrasting personality to his appearance, but it just doesn't resonate with me at all.

You find it strange because you are imagining Freddie speaking.

Just forget the VA and focus on Ion Bull as Iron Bull. It sounds fine to me.

Meh...To be perfectly honest, the more I see of Iron Bull, the less I care for him and his shrunken head and totally unconvincing voice.
I can see what the character writer was going for, giving him a very contrasting personality to his appearance, but it just doesn't resonate with me at all.

How it can resonate when barely a few glimpses have been shown?

I suggest playing the game first before making a permanent impression on a character.

I like FPJ and all, and his enthusiasm is great, but I can't help but hear James vega doing a silly impression instead of the iron bull...

 

hopefully when I'm immersed in the game it'll be different.

Gotta say unless I can get used to the voice I'm romancing Iron Bull on mute. I hate to sound shallow about it but I do not like that voice on him at all it doesn't fill that massive body  and all I can hear is Freddy from the live action Scooby Doo Movies. I had this problem in ME3 but at least the body and voice matched better in that game in this one not so much for me. I liked better what I heard in a demo with him sounding a bit deeper, I bet if they tweaked it to sound deeper just a bit I'd like it more. As it stands that voice to me does not fit that character in my opinion of course.

Meh, I'm gonna wait.  Until I knew who was voicing him or what his personality would be like, Iron Bull was way down there with Cole as to 'companions I want to get to know, but really am not interested in'.  I hated Sten, dislike the Qunari culture and only thought of the Arishok as an antagonist.  A damn cool antagonist, but nevertheless an antagonist.

 

After hearing FPJ doing the voice, I'm more interested in the character now.  He injects a lot more 'life and personality' into the role than I was expecting.  I look forward to getting the whole experience next month.

 

So many new characters and I can only have 3 accompany me at a time...dilemma dilemma dilemma...

 

That said, Keith David would have been awesome as IB's voice.  But he isn't.  I'm willing to give FPJ a listen.  Not going to base the entire character on appearance or one snippet of dialogue taken out of context.

I think we just need to hear how he speaks throughout the game, although I do have a preference for how he is in the Vo trailer. It's still a slightly odd way of speaking

It's how he talks... It's not like we haven't ever heard of that pronunciation style before. It's quite similar to Sean Connery's.

I've seen a few mentions of Keith David maybe being a better option for Iron Bull, and being a gargoyles kid growing up I would have loved the hell out of that. Shame its not happening but I really am going to try to give FPJ a chance as Iron Bull's voice the guy just happens to be one of the voices I hear and can only think of them as another role I saw them in before. But just saying I may have exploded with excitement  if Keith David had been voicing Iron Bull or Blackwall just a million pieces of me raining from the sky.

Gargoyles didn't come out till i had kids of my own, but I loved it (mostly for Keith David's voice).  I'd have fan-girl squeeed and melted into a giggly, gooey mess of glee if he had voiced IB or Blackwall.

Thank you for your suggestion, but I have first impressions on all the characters that's been revealed and for the most part, I like most of them.

Last time I checked, it was my right to form an opinion on a character (or anything else for that matter) which I have voiced in this forum.

This is after all the purpose of this thread, for people to voice their opinions on Iron Bull's voice, which is exactly what I did.

Just because it is not in agreement with you, does not give you the right to instruct me how and when to form an opinion.

I actually prefer his voice being slightly closer to Vega. The voice acting he was doing in the video above this post seemed more 'forced' to me. Looks like I'm in the minority in this case though.

I like the voice. Every other qunari talks proper and deep. I love that the IB sounds a bit.. Dumb to be honest! It really points out that this Qunari is different in every way and isn't that how it should be? I would easily choose Freddies voice over a deeper voice any day!
