Have to agree
It does sound a bit forced and like FPJ is really trying very hard not to sound as Vega (which in my opinion was a brilliant VA). Hope, this is only one scene and in the game it will sound more natural and convincing.
So...Iron Bulls voice in the new trailer

I didn't like his voice at all. But hopefully I'll get used to it in-game.

It just sound so much like vega, nothing was different. I thought bull would have more gruff in his voice. I agree It didn't sound right.

Thank you for your suggestion, but I have first impressions on all the characters that's been revealed and for the most part, I like most of them.
Last time I checked, it was my right to form an opinion on a character (or anything else for that matter) which I have voiced in this forum.
This is after all the purpose of this thread, for people to voice their opinions on Iron Bull's voice, which is exactly what I did.
Just because it is not in agreement with you, does not give you the right to instruct me how and when to form an opinion.
Savvy?
It is my right to form an opinion on your opinion, and then you can form an opinion on my opinion on your opinion.
This can go on and on and on with no resolution unless you exchange convincing and logical arguments and suggestions.
This is what forums are about. If you don't want input, then you are not in the right place, friend.
Did I tell you not to form an opinion? No I didn't. I told you to wait to form a valid one based on solid rather than circumstantial evidence.
You seem content with forming a definitive feel for a character you have barely get to know. This is superficial judgement, which is not something that anyone should condone when it comes to people, even virtual ones, that you have not gotten to know.
No need to be offended.

I think FPJ gets a lot of undeserved hate. What has he done wrong? I like how passionate he is about voicing in video games and he seems like a cool guy in real life.
Maybe you don't like Vega, but why blame Freddie for that? I can tell from the voice whether or not the actor is 'into' it or not and FPJ definitely seems into video game voice acting. He's probably one of only a few voice actors who actually plays the games they voiced for.
I doubt Yvonne Strahovsky plays games, let alone Mass Effect 2/3; that she is in (face and voice at least).

I don't hate him at all, I actually like him, but the voice for Iron Bull, IMO, doesn't fit. I just imagine FPJs face whenever I hear him speak.

The funniest thing about this is that I was sure I was going to loathe Vega from the get-go, with the way Bioware was hammering how he was this character designed for all the newbies to the franchise, and yet another human character eating up a party slot.
Afterward? He's probably my favorite party member in ME3, though Javik is close.

I'm fine with his acting, but I'm afraid he's going to sound too much like Vega. Jen Hale can literally talk to oneself without sounding similar (e.g. Jedi Shan + femTrooper in SWTOR), but PF is not that cool, I'm afraid.

But we've heard IB in game and in his VA video and neither sounded like FPJ, so I'll wait until the game comes out to fully judge. I'm wondering if these videos were made earlier in development and they hadn't tweaked FPJs Ib voice yet.

I will wait till I play the game. Once I can hang out with bull I can get a better idea. One trailer taken from two pieces of dialogue at who knows what stage of development is not a good measure for me.
This for me too. It didn't take long for me for Vega to just sound like Vega rather than FPJ; I don't imagine it will take long for Bull to just become Bull either, once the personality sets in.

Well said, and to be honest this whole thread is getting ahead of itself. We don't know how he really sounds, and we won't until we actually meet him in game and actually have a real conversation with him.
Judging a character's voice by a handful of single lines is about as valid as judging a character's appearance by a handful of screenshots... which is to say it isn't.
As for Vega, I loved that guy. It was nice to have a career soldier type character (granted, Ashley fit the bill as well, but she died on Virmire in my playthrough
).

I like Freddy and I like Vega. The problem for me is Bull sounds too much like Vega. His body and voice is just a miss match.

I like it, I think it's something different for sure, but I think it's a nice change. I think for some it is definitely one of those things you might have to take some time to get used to, but I think over time you'll get used to it and won't be able to imagine it an other way.

I'll probably get used to it in game but not crazy about from the 1st time I head him to be honest, no big deal. The bigger deal for me is that the Bull just looks goofy. His horns darn near look like a texas long horn. In the end it will be what he says that counts.

It's not so much the horns for me as it is his really, really tiny head.

I think the reason a lot of people picture FPJ whenever they hear IB is because hes a well known actor it happened to me a lot with the VAs in saints row 3&4 its not really their fault
I am pretty sure this is my issue. I watched the trailer once and could not stop picturing FPJ (am I crazy or does he even kind of resemble him now?) and it bugged me because Bull is one of the characters I'm most interested in... so I watched the trailer half a dozen more times. By the end of that I was getting used to it and hearing Iron Bull more than FPJ. I'm confident that it'll be great in game, when we aren't all so hyper focused on every new tidbit.

why are you obsessed with instructing him in particular how to think and ignore everyone else in the thread who shares his sentiment and also doesnt feel that bull resonates with them?
I think he's ****, dont much care for his design and i certainly dont care for his voice actor.
