why are you obsessed with instructing him in particular how to think and ignore everyone else in the thread who shares his sentiment and also doesnt feel that bull resonates with them?

I think he's ****, dont much care for his design and i certainly dont care for his voice actor.

Blowing things out of proportion much? Heh... Fitting.

He asked me a question and I replied to what he said. He's chosen to discontinue the discourse by not replying so there's nothing else to say. Where am I obsessing exactly?

Also why would I repeat myself to everyone else? I said my piece once. I'm not "obsessed" enough nor do I actually care enough to perch this thread.

By all means, feel free to think what you want regarding Iron Bull. I simply said that adopting a negative attitude towards a character you hardly know is premature. Is that wrong or are you content about judging a person by the sound of his voice or the size of is head. Frankly it speaks more about you than him.

I can hear the inner-James Vega from him in that video.

Vega has a Latino accent going on, while IB sounds like Sean Connery. They have different voice inflections.

Of course they would share something since its the same VA but I couldn't tell if I didn't know who voiced him.. If you listen closely enough you can hear some Shepard in Jethann once you find out both voiced by Meer :P

The lines in the new trailer sound like what he'd say when he first meets you. That makes me think that this happened early in the recording sessions, before they had found the right tone for Iron Bull's voice.

Sensible but I don't think they necessarily do the VO sessions in proper story sequence.

I liked it....but it certainly wasn't how I expected him to sound. I did find myself to be pleasantly surprised though and I don't think it detracts from his character at all...

I think there are probably going to be times in a game with likely thousands of lines from one VO actor, when the lines will have FPJ's voice shine through a bit more (such as the one under discussion). Not a big deal to me. I think he's a great VO actor, and his enthusiasm is definitely awesome to see.

Always great to see someone with a passion for games involved in making them. (And frankly, I find his joy in working on games like DAI adorable!) I have faith that the Bull's voice will be very distinctive from Vega's, and I'm sure I will be immersed enough in the game world and game that I won't even connect the two while playing.

I like Freddy Prince Jr but everything he dose just sounds like him.  Whenever Vega talked all I could see was FPJ in my head.  It will be the same with Bull.

Something definitely seemed off to me. Its either his voice or the cinematic design. it didn't seem to sync up, it looked and felt artificial. I don't know how to better describe it, but it definitely looked and sounded weird.

While I live in the UK so I have no idea what Latino's actually sound like but Iron Bull sounded a lot like James Vega in the new video. Not that I really mind, his a Qunari anyway so I expect them to have American accents anyway.

Am I supposed to feel bad for "lecturing" someone, in two whole sentences, to not judge a book by its cover?

It doesn't matter if its a game. It's a way of thinking that's simply wrong, and I will call you out on it.

We're done here. Bye.

I was expecting a deeper voice and slower manner of speaking.

Hard to judge after two lines. The first one sounded pretty bad and just didn't fit the character for me. The second one was better.

BioWare didn' have any problem with voice-actors before though. It'd be weird if they started now in this 'superproduction'.

From what little I heard I have no problem with his voice. His look is still another matter. The thing in that trailer that got my attention was how the voice over said he was of the race of the Qunari. :P I thought it was forbidden to call them that.

It is terrible acting but that's no surprise from Freddie Prinze Jr.  There's a reason his career completely died on its arse.  Only BioWare can't seem to see that he can't act at all.

He sounds exactly like James Vega. Some actors can alternate their voice and intonation to sound differently. Freddy is not one of them. I feel like they should have hired someone different to voice Iron Bull.

I'd rather have a VA like fpj doing his job with all the enthusiasm an eagerness he is bringing to the table for the character, even if the character is "abit" off, than someone like Peter Dinklage and his boring attempt in Destiny as ghost.

From the footage i have seen Mr Prince (or is it Mr junior, no idea lol) is pouring his all into the Voice and if this transfers (which i think it will) into the game an then to us the gamers then he would've done his job masterfully and we will enjoy the game that bit more.

Out of all the BioWare games i have played i have not once heard a voice that sounded "wrong" or didnt belong there, i've heard plenty that annoy me (looking at you fenris) an all i want to do is gag them, but not once have i felt the voice is wrong.

I will base an opinion once i have played the game, but from what i have seen so far i have no doubts i wont be disappointed

Yeah, I wasn't really feeling his voice in the latest trailer. I guess when you visually see the voice with the character it brings a different feel because I really loved what Freddie was doing in the youtube vid that introduced him as IB's VA. Those were just a few short clips we've seen and it's only fair to wait and see how his voice plays out in the game.

I didn't like his voice at first either and thought the E3 one was way better, but after giving it a second thought I am not so sure. His voice in the E3 trailer sounds like a giant, imagine having a normal conversation with him, it doesn't seem like it would fit to me. This new voice sounds better, but not by much, but only because I played ME3.

FPJ's enthusiasm for the role is heartwarming (and his Twitter posts about IB are hilarious)

...that said, I'm just not feeling it! :(

I hope playing the game will change my mind.

This is how I feel too. He did really seemed to be excited about it and I can appreciate that.

But from what I've heard so far his voice doesn't seem to fit. All I hear is the voice actor doing a strange voice attached to a brooding badass that I can't take seriously at all now. It's a bit jarring to watch that latest trailer. Maybe there is another place in the game his voice would fit better?

Every other character I've heard is fantastic though and overall the voice acting seems great.

It did seem a little odd to me, when listening to the trailer.

I wonder if they didnt have time to put it through post-processing (the voice in particular or the trailer overall), because I'm sure Iron Bull sounded far more gravelly and gruff in previous trailers and gameplay footage.  But maybe I'm remembering wrong, that's also possible.

Probably best not to make any sweeping generalizations before release. The Iron Bull will have hundreds of line of dialogue, trying to determine a trend based on two of them seems futile.
