As for is that Merrill? .....Maybe. Looks kinda like her, then again could just be an elf that looks like Merrill

If it is Merrill, either Eve Myles was replaced, or she's doing Merrill differently somehow, because that doesn't sound like DA2 Merrill.

this is from the twitch video right? i thought that was her, admittedly from the image you posted its hard to tell, but i'm pretty sure that is merrill, but i was wondering if she was there based on a choice you made in dragonage 2 or not.

If it wasn't the same voice actress, I'm going to stick with "maybe" for now...  I mean, aside from having black hair and being an elf, I'm not seeing a whole lot of evidence...

And the dialogue confirming that she was in Kirkwall while the Champion was around, and implying she knew her well enough to be able to recognize her by sight...?

Hm... I dunno... I'm still kind of skeptical.  It's not like Merrill was the only elf in Kirkwall.  Hawke lived in Lowtown for 4 years, after all...

 

Yeah... I think I'll go with "maybe" for the time being.

 

edit:  Also, after thinking about it for a bit, would Bioware really let a huge spoiler like that slip?  It couldn't have been accidental since the people doing the stream are the ones who made the game... nah... the more I think about it, the less likely it seems.  That elf might have even been shown just to throw fans off the trail, like the "Knight Enchanter Greatsword" from one of the recent crafting demos (recent, but pre-Spirit Blade reveal).

Whatever that link is, I'm not even going to hover over it because I don't want to see any spoilers that I haven't already. 

 

Regardless of that, I'm not convinced by what's been posted in this thread so far.  I'm changing my stance from "maybe" to "eh... I dunno about all that..., " but at least it isn't a "no way in heck."

 

Even if the devs don't give a crap about spoilers (they do, but let's assume for a moment that they don't), why didn't they hire the same VA if that really was Merrill?  She can't have been that expensive... eh... nah, a blurry image and a couple lines of rather generic dialogue aren't enough to convince me.

Well I suppose it could be Merrill who has been for some reason completely recast again and given another total personality overhaul just to make ambient dialogue in Skyhold's tavern, but in that case it would still not be the Merrill you know.

 

That sounds nothing like her. Especially that accent. Merrill doesn't talk like that.

Considering that they've given elves british accents now, I wouldn't be surprised if they had Merrill's voice changed because of that. Wouldn't be the first time.

They did city elves, at least. The default dalish elf inquisitor voice is the british one too.

Wouldn't be surprised if dalish elf accents were the same as the city elves in inquisition, considering they had the same accent as city elves in da:o.

Oh my, that sounds like it's going to feel a bit awkward if my Inquisitor ever meets up with the Lavellan clan again... I'll was planning on going with the American accent on that char.

A Welsh accent is a British accent. But yeah the elves' accents appear to have been changed again to English accents now. Even so, that didn't sound like how Merrill talks.

Perhaps, if it is Merrill, spending so much time amongst humans and away from her clan, her accent has changed.

Huh... yeah, I forgot that Merrill's DA2 VA was her second, even though the woman who voiced her in DA:O is one of my favorite VAs.

 

Not that I see this as evidence, or anything... it's just odd that I forgot.  Although Merrill's role in DA:O was pretty insignificant, and I only played as a Dalish elf 3-4 times...
