Wouldn't they just immediately re-record it? The voice director or someone from the company sits in on their voice takes.

Also, the scene directions are clearly marked in the script and look totally different to the spoken dialogue. In the sample scenes they gave for the voice acting competition, the [sadly], [with anger] directions were on the opposite side of the page.

Also, no voice actor is stupid enough to read the prompts as part of their spoken line.

EP my man i think you should rename this thread to "The Horny Thread". just sayin.

That's certainly a valid option for them. But what I take umbridge at is the idea that if you have no issue with completely fictional violence where nobody gets hurt and there are no lasting consequences, you should automatically also have no issue with sexual content. Those two are not tied together - you can like sexual content whilst disliking violent content, and vice versa.

The whole thing with antagonism towards sexual content in the media goes back to Christianity and Catholicism.  Kind of like how there's the whole issue on birth control and abortion (abortion's such a controversial topic that the word itself feels negative), yet when someone brings up possibly putting restrictions and the availability of guns, people go absolutely crazy and the topic quickly disappears.  Yeah, America is full of hypocrites.  The way I see it, people are going to experience sexual situations first-hand eventually, why care if there's sexual content in the media?  Especially when you can just avoid it.  * sighs *  Humanity needs to grown up.  America most of all.   -_-

This entire thread reminds me of that movie....Idle Hands.  You wouldn't share the experience with friends but man was it a fun ride.

I mean... really? Streaming extremely brutal games, horror games, disgusting graphical violence is fine there, but nudity can get you banned?

There is nothing in this world more vile than human sexuality, clearly.

Interesting that when it comes to games, in US, sex and nudity is a big nono, but graphic violence is OK. But in Japan it is completely opposite ;) ( generally speaking of course)

I think those lines are funny as hell without context, but no where near make me feel uncomfortable.

Then again, I play hentai games.....so...

I think the 'Great Respect' line is totally Bull. Complete Bull. Absolutely Bull. :)

The 'Boncing ******' line could be Bull, Sera, or more likely an npc. All the worst 'sex' lines in DA have been delivered by non-companions. 'Felicitate me!' Immediately comes to mind lol.

Personally I can't wait to find out who is delivering these lines :)

For my part, I am most likely going to skip past the sex scenes, at least partly because I don't know when nudity is going to happen, and I don't want to get banned from Twitch as I will be streaming my playthroughs XD

I imagine Twitch would be somewhat lenient on this, if it was unexpected. Otherwise, it seems like a lot of Amnesia players would get in trouble.

In Amnesia, there's a lengthy monologue delivered by a hovering naked guy (his tackle rests gently in the center of the screen for the whole speech), and there's zero signposting that it would happen. He just shows up naked 'cause that's how he rolls, I guess.

These ratings have been here for two decades. Do you think most parents actually read them?

Everyone's entitled to there own opinions i just dont understand why such a fuss is made about realistic adult relationships in a 17+ game that are completely optional.

Yeah, as far as I know those are Twitch rules, though Broodmother and desire demon breasts didn't bring the banhammer on me.  Despite that I think Twitch might take offence at sexually suggestive nudity as opposed to "it's there, now kill it" nudity.  Not my rules, I just have to abide by them to share my love of BW games.

Edit: in reply to Arvaraad's post, I did not know that about Amnesia, then maybe I won't skip through it, even though I don't really expect it for my first playthrough at least, male Dwarf romancing Cass :D

No, just being optimistic. Some parents probably do, but they are the minority

(such a shame really ESRB was created because parents were mad not knowing, but never use it.)

All answers yes but I have no idea where the rating gets its information from.  Is this rating 100% from actually playing finished game content?  Is it from reading a script and game content?  I don't know how these ratings work.  Do the raters sit down in front of a screen, play the game and write notes?  do they do that and look at in game dialogue?  How is this dialogue presented to them?

Ok, so that's 4 parts of the DA pyramid of greatness.

Via msmpsn:

The ESRB has released a rating summary for DA: Inquisition.

http://www.esrb.org/...&searchkeyword=

Rating Summary: This is a role-playing game in which players assume the role of a warrior battling evil forces in different dimensions. Characters use swords, axes, hammers, and magic attacks to kill fantastical creatures (e.g., demons, monsters, dwarfs) and humans in melee-style combat. Cutscenes sometimes depict characters impaled or getting their throats slit. Violent sequences are often highlighted by cries of pain, gurgling/gushing sounds, and large blood-splatter effects; blood remains on the ground in several environments. The game includes some sexual material: a female character briefly depicted in front of a man's torso (fellatio is implied); characters depicted topless or with exposed buttocks while lying in bed or after sex; some dialogue referencing sex/sexuality (e.g., “'I will bring myself sexual pleasure later, while thinking about this with great respect'” and “The way your t*ts bounce when I pin your arms and take you on the side of the bed…”). The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” appear in dialogue.

I'm surprised no one spotted the blatant anti-dwarf racism here. Dwarves are evil creatures like demons and monsters indeed... :(

It's still true.  People in the US easily forget about violence in the media, but any sexual content sticks in their mind and is either greeted with approval or disgust.  There's no real middle-ground, and if there is, it's completely drowned out by the arguments on both sides.
