These ratings have been here for two decades. Do you think most parents actually read them? 

 

Slightly OT but I know a parent who does and informed me that I was not allowed to play my games while their children were home not even a Lego game which was what I had brought for the kids to play. I remember my mom used to read those too but she was no where near as strict as the other parent though.

To be honest if I was BioWare I wouldn't be all that amused at this turn of events, not only from the writing point of view but from the perception point of view.  Just because regular game players can make light of it doesn't mean that some people looking to buy a Christmas present or something will not be turned off by this.  Not the rating itself but how it has been stated.

 

If there is an inaccuracy or something taken out of context BioWare/Ea should come out quickly with a clarification.

EDIT: My parents were pretty strict until I turned 13, then they pretty much gave up. One of my aunts, mother of a cousin ten years younger than me, keeps asking for my advice on what video games are appropriate for him. I don't think she's even aware of the rating system.

Kinda on the fence about this. I find the first line absolutely hilarious and I will be sorely disappointed if it's not spoken by a companion. That overly formal tone just kills me. But that second one is just... so awkward and makes me uncomfortable; I like my romance scenes tasteful. (And before anyone goes all "Ha! Prudish American!", I'm an asexual European, kthxbye. Edit. the reason I'm mentioning this is that there is a difference between "you must never speak of sex because it's dirty" and "I really have no interest in this particular human activity"; the former is imposing your own values on others, the latter is a personal sentiment).

Nothing will ever beat the lamp post in winter lines from DA:O.

But DA has always mixed sex and human.

Edit: Part of what makes some of the chars real everyone mostly mixes those things, but without the context of the whole lines and how they got there its just funny stuff. But the board has a habbit of picking  bad and simple lines for their rating summary

The fact that I'm making is that when it comes to sex and romance in writing and even real life, the chances of it not being awkward is slim, We still don't even know if it's just a joke or anything(context is very important)

 

The line is awkward as hell, it's also funny so if it is a joke, the writer did their job. If it was a real pick up line, then even more lulzy.
