Yes, the first quote is rather comical and I wouldn't be surprised if it's supposed to be funny in a particular context but other than that, what's the big deal? It's not like a little bit of dirty talk or men commenting on a woman's breasts during sex is that uncommon. Those characters are, from the looks of things, exclusively mature and confident people, not teenagers with little to no sexual experience.

We already know females are going to be naked. It seems male's buttocks will at least be exposed. Who knows about the animated sex scenes?

While both genders will be naked, we won't see the groin area for either gender. The ESRB thing would have stated otherwise if we do.

This is bsn, we have to nitpick everything when there is no context!

Feel free to re-read my posts. I never once stated DAI was going to have full-frontal nudity or show the male or female genitalia exposed. What I did say, in regards to males, was that it would likely take BioWare more time (in terms of years) to show anything more compared to Rockstar who love to show the male genitalia.

Nudity in a brothel? Perhaps. Any nudity that had to deal with the main story, such as Triss and the Rose of Remembrance, or Ves were actually executed quite well. In all honesty though, you missed out on a great game on a feature that doesn't even define it.

If I'm not mistaken, Heavy Rain was a PS3-exclusive and didn't have the critical acclaim or success that The Witcher 2 had. Even if it did, my point is post-TW2 games have had a lot more nudity than pre-TW2, like your example.

As in Fable? Definitely not. That would have been worse.

Heavy Rain was PS3 exclusive, and doubtless not as big of a moneymaker as Witcher 2, but I think it did have a fair amount of critical acclaim.  And there's definitely far more controversial material in it than nudity.

When it comes to the financial success that GTA is, I'm sure many studios and publishers would disagree lol. That being said, BioWare makes much more serious games than Rockstar generally, so that likely won't be something that comes up.

You're gonna have to elaborate on that one because Rockstar has been spending the last couple of years making stories that is drenched in lots of brown and gritty realism, so edgy that my wrists are bleeding internally -- GTA IV was so much brown and gray noise, with Niko Bellic's constant self-loathing, that it was hard to take it as "the satire on the conformist society and culture of today-whacky-fun-adventure" as GTA usually was with previous installments. Red Dead was so grounded and tightly focused on its tale of redemption, that it felt like its head was buried in the sand, whereas with BioWare you have things like "The Citadel" DLC that is so whacky that if you inhale oxygen for too long while playing, then your lungs will turn into balloon animals -- Not to mention the Mark of the Assassin DLC.

I feel some elaboration are granted here -- Because it's usually easy to determine when a story wants to take itself seriously while still being able to entertain with humor. Rockstar has been doing mostly the former for a time now, whereas BioWare seems to shift awkwardly between either sides of the spectrum, and lately been leaning towards the wacky.

Your post made it seem you thought only women would be seen naked, so I was clarifying.

Not disputing that. We are focused on nudity and how it has become much more prevalent over the past three years. DAI actually having nudity of its own is showing how liberalized the video game industry is becoming in terms of nudity, sex, and romance. It seems like every other M-rated game is depicting some sort of sex scene these days.

Or as in GTA, where the results are usually hilarious -- It would have saved time and effort away from the actual awkward action and at made it less unintentionally comical.

The most common reason people dislike TW2's scenes are that Triss is completely naked, you get a full frontal scene, whereas we don't even see Geralt's naked butt. It that fashion it is very sexist and not terribly professional.

GTA IV was a bit of an exception to Rockstar's general rule, although even that game was generally comical and over-the-top in various places based on the ridiculous characters and situations Niko would find himself in. The only serious game in recent memory that Rockstar developed was Red Dead Redemption, and that wasn't even done by Rockstar North (GTA devs). GTA V is another perfect example of a game that doesn't take itself seriously at all. It's certainly not as ridiculous as Saint's Row, but I doubt many would argue GTA is really a serious franchise either. Yes, there are occasionally some serious underlining themes, but they are generally drowned out by all the nonsense and crazy scenarios that happen above and more sporadically.

I never actually played the Citadel DLC, so I can't comment on what BioWare may or may not have done. I can only comment on the tone of their main stories, which have always been serious either dealing with morality, social issues, moral dilemmas, friendships and rivalries, sacrifice and tragedy, etc. I think you would find few would agree with you that BioWare isn't serious 95% of the time. I can only think of a few instances BioWare used humor just to break the ice of an already serious situation in many of their games.

That makes sense. I think people will have to wait a longer time before BioWare is comfortable with depicting the male genitalia, as Rockstar does in GTA.

Wasn't male genitalia shown in GTA as a joke? Not in a sexual scene of any kind?

You are missing the point though. Romance isn't supposed to be comical in BioWare games or The Witcher. GTA, which is a franchise that rarely takes itself seriously, fits that tone perfectly. It would be out of place for Dragon Age or The Witcher to just fade to black with awkward moaning.

How does anyone even know that any of our followers or inquisitiors say those lines? They could be said by random NPs in a brothel or something.

What's not classy about a natural part of a person's body?

We don't know. It's very likely such lines probably would come from a brothel as that was generally when we heard something ridiculous or comical in DAO or DA2. Either way, it's humorous to question which companion would most likely say those lines, even though I'm skeptical any main character said them at all.

“The way your t*ts bounce when I pin your arms and take you on the side of the bed…”

My first thoughts reading this: yay! kink

On another note, I find avoiding nudity far more awkward than actual nudity itself. It can be good if done tastefully, meaning used in scenes where it makes sense.

We don't know, but I definitely get a Dorian vibe from the 'great respect' line and an IB vibe from the 'bouncing' line.
