Well that's the concession. These things like lockpicks, mystical keys or walls for WARRIOR SMASH are there to give each class some non-combat activity that gives them added value. From a gameplay perspective I think this is the right approach, but accept that this means if I do choose a monoclass party there will be stuff I'll miss out on. The real question is how much stuff that will be.

I'm comfortable with missing out on loot. I'm not comfortable with having plot advancement blocked because of my class choices, unless that was telegraphed well in advance of party selection screen.

Won't that just increase the replay value? If certain things are locked to certain classes, I mean.

Yes. I don't have an issue with class specific locked activity at all, and I think there are plenty of plot reasons why you may need to take a certain class on certain missions.

All I expect is that, if the mission can only be concluded by a rogue for example, that in any briefing its made evident that will be a condition before you start.

"The idol is locked away, you'll need someone skilled at bypassing locks" would be more than adequate. If I neglect to bring a rogue with me, well that's on me.

I love the lore comments.

You should be able to lose your mage permanently to possession "Lore-wise" too... but I don't see people whining about that.

People who complain about lore and gameplay not aligning perfectly are like shooter fans complaining about the lack of realistic recoil in a game where respawning is a mechanic.

It's a complaint always selectively applied to only those things they personally don't like.

My initial reaction is that I'll just skips... but now that they've made crafting so complex... I'm going to be staring at a chest saying:  What components are in there that I could craft with - instead of "Probably just more Blank Vellum"

Mine would be Viv and I bouncing Barriers back and forth... while Dorian and Solas make it rain Ice and Electricity.

it's annoying enough to have to take a lock picker, now grunts too?

You don't Have to do anything.

Sheesh people complain about choice with no consequences (perhaps not you) and/or choice with consequences. Bioware can't win. This, is why I don't work in customer service.

It will be fun to try one for my mage run. It will not be fun running into boxes I can't open and doors I can't knock over. But that's the price you pay.

You should be able to blow a perk / skill point on Lockpicking / Door Bashing / Bridge Mending training in order to facilitate 'unbalanced' parties.

I disagree all classes should be able to do all things. It is not like you are missing lots of content you simply not seeing certain shortcuts and some chests won't open or you won't go across a bridge. You still get to the same place you just go a different route. It is a choice and you get additional content based on that choice. In same way if you pick a dwarf vs a elf you get dwarf race dialogue and underworld connections. That doesn't mean your forces to pick dwarf just that is a little something extra for people who do pick dwarf. Every class had a special bridges, lockpick, or bash walls you get a little something extra based on what you picked.

I have been planning this since the confirmation of 3 mages. It will be glorious. I haven't decided exactly what skill trees I'll invest in for each mage but at the very least I will try to max out each mage's specialty.

  • Quanari Male Mage being the Fire/ Rift mage.
  • Vivienne the Ice/ Knight Enchantress/ Barrier
  • Dorian will bring the Lighting/ Necromancy
  • Solas I haven't really give a lot of thought honestly, but maybe into spirit and definitely rift mage.

For warriors I think Iron Bull will be my go to tank and as far as rogues go Cole and Varric.
