Dear Lord what horrendous, cringe-worthy dialogue.

I thought that line sound great, especially for her character, and the VA... OMG so lovely.

That line is supposed to be charming?

Either it's meant to be charming, and it's not, or it's meant to be intimidating and it just comes off as silly.

The prime candidate is that it's meant to be funny, which it is. No idea where you are getting intimidating.

Intimidating? Wait, what?

Yes, because I'm often overcome by the need to intimidate somebody *after* I shoot an arrow through their brain. Really makes it sink in, as it were.

That sexual tension, though...

I assume Chrono was hinting that it could be intimidating, as in an evil aligned character is saying it. "Funny" didn't cross my mind, because it's not the least bit funny. It's creepy.

A bad line is a bad line.  Unless she is acting in a play with deliberately bad dialogue at that moment context can not save it.

Eeeehm... We do know, so you did miss something along the way. It was Sera, in the latest trailer.

Guess I did. I had no idea there was a trailer for anything to be honest.

Didn't have any problem with it. It's no "We fight or we die!"

It probably would have sound better had she said "Blah blah blah, arrow to the face!" as in "he kept talking but my arrow shut him up!" Made perfect sense to me, and she's a "reactionnary" character, so she acts before she completely absorbs the information, hence the scene after we see the Inquizzy all frowny face and she's going all "What... my buddies said you wanted him dead, so he is!"

One liners OUT of context can always sound awkward no matter how fluid they are IN context.

Humor can be funny and creepy. It follows the standard procedure for a joke by which you establish an expectation and then subvert it. By objective measures it works as humor. By personal measure there's many different types of humor and it's a waste of time to argue about it.

So immediately preceding the... climax of the story, the Elder one tells the Inquisitor in a scary voice "just so you know, I'm gonna go furiously masturbate to the thought of this. Respectfully, of course. See ya!" before scampering off to the last dungeon.

Seems legit. I'll be disappointed if this doesn't happen.

I guarantee you if I ever said that to a girl she wouldn't answer my calls after.

I think it's only proper that anyone would find anything my Inquisitor says sexually arousing - and being aroused respectfully is a high honor indeed!

I mean - who wants to arouse people disrespectfully... that's a sad panda if I've ever heard of one.

The word "Blah" should not be used in the context of the Dragon Age world.

Characters in DA shouldn't talk like 1990s teenagers.

@JimBlandings:  Why not?

I'd actually find it refreshing if some fantasy worlds dropped the archaic pretense.

Frankly the way I design my characters to be unrealistic avatars of physical perfection, I'd expect this to be true :P

I have a feeling that visually the sex/romance scenes will be pretty tasteful, but I'm hoping the dialogue won't ruin it.

1. This isn't real life, and often funny lines are not something someone would actually say IRL to another person.

2. You said yourself we have no context.

BioWare often writes cultural colloquialisms into their dialogue. Alistair is a giant walking one. This isn't new.

Implying Sera is a conservative English teacher.

It's her characterization. It's fine if you dislike brats but that's what she is. It doesn't make the dialogue horrible.

Your tastes however are a different matter. :)

Oh let's not forget about the dreaded "this isn't about strategy or tactics, this is about survival" line. Man the dialogue in that game was really cringe worthy. :pinched:

Btw, I am really sorry for this.
