Meaning characters like Loghain, companions that weren't advertised prior to release. Perhaps companion characters that come with a price to them (what Alistair was to Loghain).
Would you be fine with "Secret Companions" in Dragon Age: Inquisition?

I would love to see one or two "secret" companions in DA:I... unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that's out of the question. Either that, or the devs are actually keeping them a secret, which would be fine by me. Hopefully it will be an additional party member and not a replacement like we've traditionally seen (Loghain, Morinth, etc...).

I am fine with this but I want to get to know them. I mean by time you get Logain most of your major quests are done. Also I agree we have done the trade one companion for another thing to much. I think it could be nice but as others said I don't think bioware is going that route this time.

No, if only because the 'secret companion' usually gets spoiled months before or is really, really obvious and thus the 'secret' nature of the companion becomes pointless.

Secret companions are awesome. I don't expect them to do it though.
I really don't see any reason against secret companions honestly. If you don't like them, don't use them. You don't need to know everything about a game before release.

A temporary one that stays with you for a short quest arc is possible, but a full "secret companion" ala Loghain seems highly doubtful.
