Yup, would like that.  I know it would never ever happen but I'd be fine not knowing about any of the companions before hand.

Yup, always love a little surprise in Bioware games. I was so delighted to learn when Loghain could be recruited. DAO, ME2 and ME3 all had secret companions so bring 'em on again.

A temporary one that stays with you for a short quest arc is possible, but a full "secret companion" ala Loghain seems highly doubtful.

That doesn't sound very appealing to me.  I'm not rearranging my team so that some outsider can join... if there are temporary companions at all, I would prefer that they be optional (or are at the very beginning of the game like Jowan, Daveth, Jory, etc.).  If they just tag along behind the party and do their own thing, that would be fine.

Instant 10/10 GOTY if they did this.

Secret companion like Legion or Loghain?

Because we've seen a few examples of 'secrets'.

Hawke as a secret companion (even a temporary one) would be awesome. But I must say it's because I love all my Hawkes. Morrigan would be an awesome one too, IMO. :) So yeah, I'm all up for secret companions! :D

If Tower of Ishal Guard and Tower of Ishal Mage were alive, their feelings would be hurt.

Hawke or The Warden-Commander (Since either The Warden is Dead, or the Warden got promoted to Warden-commander). I think Hawke will at least be a temp-companion during at least 1 plot

That archery-based Tower Guard was a boss though.  Too bad Flemeth saved Alistair instead of him... :/

It would be interesting to see that kind of thing, except maybe not so late in the game after I've already become attached to Alistair.

I think it's very unlikely there will be a secret companion. We already have three companions per class and one companion per specialization. A "bonus" one would complicate all those dynamics for no real reason. Unless we swapped out one of our companions for the new guy, ala Morinth. I don't know, I'm just not seeing it.

It's not a matter of whether it would be fine. It simply won't happen due to the cost and resources associated with fully fleshing out companions. BioWare can't afford it.

I wouldn't want any more companions in DA:I simply for the fact that I feel like it's going to be hard to get to know the nine we already have, even in a game as huge as this seems to be.

I'm kind of torn on the idea. In principle, I love finding these hidden things. In practice, in these days of twitter and tumblr (*shudder*), nothing is secret for more than 30 seconds.

There's also the practical matter of execution, case in point being how late you have the option of getting Loghain. Compared to a companion that's along for the majority of the game, it's a large investment for a relatively modest payoff.

Personally I wish all the companions were "secret companions".

I would definitely be up for having "secret" companions, even if they came in a form similar to Loghain. I would be especially psyched if that "secret" companion was Oghren. Strong possibility I would sacrifice all other companions to have him back in the game.

I would absolutely be okay with it. As much as I enjoy learning about our companions and thinking I can plan who I'll like better than others, it's still great fun to be surprised by someone secret. Not only does it add some mystery, but it expands more of what there is to the game, even if they start out as someone we hate or thought of as the enemy. I do like the way they did it with Loghain and how it involved having to make a decision, and it really made you think about if your Warden was going for the greater good or if a long time companions wishes were more important.

There is not going to be a secret companion...
