Does anyone know if there would be face codes in DA:I like in ME? I have always loved that feature because you could take a really cool face and teak it into your liking. I'm great at making names and backstories, but I'm not leonardo da vinci when it comes to character creation

I doubt it.

They are looking into it, but no promises.

They said not in the final game but they know how popular it is and they're looking at options for it post-launch

That question was asked during the CCC live stream and the answer was there is currently no such thing in the game, but it is something they are looking into to potentionally include in post-release. They also said that it's a LOT of variables this time around, which is roundabout for "don't hold your breath".

I wish they'd do something so that if you make a face, get into game, then realize something is "off" or you decide you don't like something you can just plug in that code and then tweak the one thing you don't like instead of having to start over and not being able to remember exactly where yo put everything.

This could all be solved quickly if they had "numbers" on the sliders, that way you can write down the numbers for each slider to know where things are.

I don't get why more games don't do this, they just have sliders but nothing listed for the value of them so it's just a guessing game on where they are at.

There are probably values to them but they just need to make visible them to the player. I think the most difficult part would the value of the color palettes without cluttering the screen.

they said there might be material post-launch that allows u to customize the face after initial CC at the beginning of the game but as it was mentioned due to the ridiculously high number of variable in the new face creators codes are a maybe at best. thought to be fair from what i've seen of DA: I 's CC it's not just simple slides like ME or previous DA titles they actual work more detailed and offer more choice

You could always just make your own.   Face codes are nothing more than a hexadecimal representation of how many steps each slider is located.

ex:   if the 1st slider in in position 2, 2nd in 13, 3rd in 8, 4th in 10, 5th in 1, and 6th in 16....

You would have face code 1B79-0F...    Or you could make it less confusing by switching the 1 and 10 spots (2C80-1F...)

They've mentioned that this might happen post launch. They also hope that it'll send the face data to the Keep so you can share it/download it. (Though I think they said that the code itself might be invisible to the player, due to the sheer amount of data required in a face code generated by the CC.) I hope this comes to fruition myself. I'd love to send my Hawke and Inquisitors to people. Including a friend with a really good PC rig so I can get high rez screenshots of my babies.

Hmm, thank you.   That will help me and others out, but I can see that a lot of average players aren't going to want to figure out a face code on their own via hex.   You know, I could see sites like Faces of Gaming taking advantage of that.  They could probably translate slider codes for the average player, or at least break them down back into the slider value from hex.  That why your more average gamer doesn't feel the need to learn hex in order to create a custom PC that doesn't look weird/bad.  Or to make one that looks odd on purpose.

Again, I appreciate it.   :D   This will be an immense help once the game comes out.  No more bad nose job, unlike my poor poor first Shepard.

Bookmarked.

There are no face codes currently in the game, but they've said they would look into somehow making that option available in the Keep. I don't really understand how it could possibly work unless they originally planned it though.

You wouldn't have to necessarily use hex either, but you would have to put some space between them then...

1-13-4-6-10-12...

Would work just as well.

And be somewhat less confusing for us dyscalculic folk. Somewhat. Seriously, I get the basics of what you're suggesting conceptually, but trying to execute a custom hex code made my eyes go cross for a moment there, haha.

I really would love some sort of facecode system put in if they're ever able. Also really handy if you want to replay a character, but can't just import them into a new game. For now, what I'll probably end up doing is taking screencaps of sliders and looks of the character from different angles to make sure I can recreate it as close as possible in future replays. It's what I used for my Hawkes and while not as fast as face codes or making a custom preset in the DA toolset for DA:O, it more or less worked out.

Hell, if I'm really lucky gibbed or someone else will do a DA:I save editor and be able to include a head morph import/export feature similar to ME 2/3

Thing is, the impression I got from watching the videos on the CC is that instead of just a slider, you have a horizontal/vertical capability to your manipulation. I can see where that would make it hard to reduce a code to a manageable string of numbers. The ME ones were long enough, but I can imagine that in order to adequately represent this one, it might be quite involved.

I've heard them say on one of the streams that it's something they'd really want to tie to the Keep so that characters can be shared that way, which would be way better than entering a code each time.

There's the whole thing with that adjusting the features without using sliders anyway, so mapping that will be harder.

I'd rather just to save the data without having to ctrl+c a long code and ctrl+v in notepad. The FFXIV benchmark let you create your characters before the release of the game and you could always SAVE the character creation data.

I would rather a method like FFXIVs.

Codifying the face is hard, particularly given sliders, the 2D mapping grids and colour wheels.

In a moment of nerdyness I tried to develop a mechanic that would describe the face code

but the thread did not exactly set the forum on fire

I really hope they implement it in the future.

Although I make good faces, I do enjoy "shopping" for different ones (facesofgaming.com is a great source) and it would be nice not to have to get slider numbers for every option in this massive CC.
