So what if part of customizing Skyhold is there's different NPCs you can recruit for certain jobs and several of them are mutually exclusive?

Like you could recruit a dalish armorer and get wooden/leather ones...ooor get a dwarven one and get thick metal armor.

Or you get a chantry sister, but only if when you make a garden it's a chantry meditation area. Wheras if you make a herb garden you instead can get a gardener.

Anyone else think that'd be an interesting way to customize skyhold? Different playthroughs could have it populated by lots of different characters.

You should clarify that you are talking about skyhold. and i think we just get 1 blacksmith and nothing more, or at least that's how it sounds to me when it was described.

Interesting idea. I think we'll likely just get 1 master smith (for example) and then be able to hire specialized people to work under him/her, or research new techniques for him/her. Then they'd only have to record lines for one character and no one would complain about being locked out of certain equipment.

I do think it would be interesting, though, to see different factions wandering around more based on who we side with in various conflicts: mages or Templars, soldiers, spies, or merchants, depending on the things you choose. It would add more flavor without nearly as much work or cost as having multiple versions of the same minor characters.

We have a research assistant in our library. I know some people are dying for her to be an awkward and dorky female Qunari haha.

But yea it would certainly be cool to be able to recruit different people for different jobs, but I'd rather it wouldn't be mutually exclusive. Say you recruit the Dalish armorer for the wood stuff, i'd want the Dwarven armorer to be recruitable too for the iron stuff.
