How come there is no long hair customization for our inquisitor? you know, like the elves in lord of the rings

The reason I love Dragon Age is because it wants to be it's own fantasy and not LoTRs. Besides, long hair has a lot of clipping issues. 

 

Your "should" should be "I would like".

1 - Because, as others have said, it's a clipping issue. Also, hair is hard to animate as it is, short and mid-length hair helps cover up the issues a bit more than having long hair would have.

 

2 - This is just apropos of nothing, but the hair of the elves in LotR distracted me. I always thought it was silly to wade into battle with hair that could easily get in one's eyes or could be grabbed by an enemy to disable you.

Because Bioware doesn't like hair. That's why they made most companions (nearly) bald.

Because when your protagonist is knee deep in red templars, blood mages and demons you want to help them murder you by giving them the option to pull your gloriously long but impractically hair.

I wouldn't mind a long ponytail or braid option. I know that the devs hate clipping but I don't mind it much. ;; Generally I would like more options to choose from but Mike did say they were looking at adding more after launch.

Yeah, in the world of hairdressing that counts as long hair. I get why they don't want to make it longer than that.

Lara Croft's ponytail in the new Tomb Raider was gloriously long though.

I think people associate shoulder length hair as being medium length, mid to upper back is usually what most people think of when they hear long hair.

Long hair, for me, is any length past the shoulders.

I get why there is no long hairstyles, even though I would love to have some; like a nice long braid - for both men and women. I would love to make myself a Khal Drogo Inquisitor

But I was hoping for some nice updos, you get the long hair (sort of) without the clipping issues.

 

But really, I just want a wider range of hairstyles over all.

I have long hair in real life. I'm biased - I love long hair.

I would love to be able to choose long hairstyles for characters in games. I wouldn't always choose them, but I'd like to be able to choose them without cringing, because...

Even when they are an option, I seldom choose them, because of clipping.

I hate clipping more than I love long hairstyles.

 

One day- hopefully soon, but one day- technology will catch up, and I there will be long hair without clipping in games, and that day will be glorious.

 

I'll just have to keep impatiently waiting until then.

And hoping that they can at least get good ponytails and/or long braids into games without too much clipping, even if they can't do the long flowing locks.

I want long hair so bad I dont mind clipping as long as it doesnt clip so bad that it goes through your chest.

I tend to prefer short hair on my female characters, and redhair; but I wouldn't mind long hair choices as I know others would love them as well.
