So you don't wear helmets? Then good thing this is not multi player, as I would target anyone who chooses fashion over safety.   Worrying about your hair when you will be fighting. I cant be the only female veteran in here who finds that so funny?

Considering DA doesn't have a specific targeting system, I don't think anyone would have to be concerned about an arrow piercing their brains due to lack of helmet, so even with MP, those who choose fashion over safety can rest easy.

Edit: Not to mention, most helmets were made to wear with arming caps (usually padded ones), so I see no reason why a person couldn't have long hair and wear a helmet.

Well I do wish that 2/3 of the NPCs didn't have the same well-orchestrated mushroom or messy haircuts. I'm starting to see a lot of recurring styles which I didn't find too much of in DA2 -- which is odd. The ones to pick from are kinda uninspired too.. Blergh.

The biggest problem with long hair, for me, is helmets, where I put it on and my braid that should still be visible, isn't.
I would like at least a couple dude pony-tails though.

I try not to go too mod crazy, but I ended up with several (many of them bug fixes).  Anyway, there are some beautiful hair mods for DA:O.

Male hair, modeled by my prince-consort Cousland, from the "Look Hair" mod.  This hair VERY closely resembles what I have in real life.  It's longer than the screenshots make it look, particularly in the back.

Spoiler

Female hair, modeled by Queen Anora and Morrigan, from the "Anto Hairstyles" mod.

Spoiler

This is what I want in every game.  Legolas hair would be good too.

@Neverwinter_Knight77: for some reason I just can't stand the female long hair styles in that mod. don't know why but I just can not stand them. I can't say why but they just seem off.

The long hair for the male warden though, now that is pretty good and i like it. Its a cool style. :)

Yes, especially for the qunari, though.  In DA2 there were a lot of long-haired qunari and a lot of the concept art featured long hair.  I think it'd be cool to see long braids, as well.

I'd like to see different styles of earrings more that long hair.

Long hair's just not practical at all, especially during war 'n demons 'n stuff.

they added the helmet hide option for a reason

this is fantasy world, that being said there should be some room for art and aesthetics. Striving for some sense of realism is nice, but there needs to be aspects of fantasy to keep the world of (insert title here) beautiful.

I think it would be nice if there were more hairstyles which implied long hair but the hair is braided, put up in a pony tail or a bun or something so it animates better and is reasonably practical in battle... kind of like Anora's hairstyle where I imagine if she let it all out it'd be quite long? :)

How come there is no long hair customization for our inquisitor? you know, like the elves in lord of the rings

it burned away in the explosion?

I can appreciate that long hair is technically difficult to do well. Anything past the shoulders typically experiences lots of clipping, and I understand why BW might want to stay away from long free-flowing hair: it looks fine right up until the moment your character starts moving or changes armour. I'm personally content with having the illusion of long hair (ponytails, braids, buns, etc.) while they sort out proper hair physics. What I can't so easily forgive is the decision to incorporate fifty shades of buzzcut and only a minimal number of hairstyles that give even the illusion of length and volume.*

* I don't know that I've seen all possible meshes for female Humans/Elves/Dwarves, so there might be more long-looking options in the CC than I'm presently aware of. However, going by what I've seen from the male options and the Qunari options, I'm not exactly optimistic. A lot of the longer looking options present in DAO and DA2 seem to be gone.
